Graphics are Important for Zelda Wii U

At a Nintendo briefing in Japan, much of the topic of discussion was on the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and many of the upcoming games to be released. However, there was still a slight mention of the Legend of Zelda for the Wii U. Shigeru Miyamoto was in attendance and while we don’t know exactly what he said, a translation has popped up thanks to David Gibson.
Considering Nintendo showcased the Legend of Zelda as part of the HD experience demo for the Nintendo Wii U, they certainly have the Zelda series in mind when they think about graphical capabilities. However, to me this statement says that the Wii U isn’t just an HD Wii, but there are a lot more things to it than that. Perhaps this means that games like the Legend of Zelda will likely make more use of graphical capabilities, as opposed to taking full advantage of the other Nintendo Wii U components. Perhaps the next console game in the Zelda series will be that HD gritty graphic game, but still control like Skyward Sword? Who knows, it’s all speculation at this point, but at least we know one thing. For the Zelda series, it appears that graphics matter.
It seems unlikely that we are going to get anything at all from GDC 2012 or E3 2012 concerning Zelda Wii U, but I still have my fingers crossed. I think there is a higher probability of hearing about a new Zelda 3DS title, but we’ll have to wait and see.
