Grandpa Danger, the 3DS’ Craziest Hero

Japanese developers are known by most gamers for making deep, emotional, high-quality games. However, sometimes a game ekes out of the Land of the Rising Sun that can only be described as “weird.” The 3DS has been in no short supply of such titles, such as Gyoretsu Nageloop and Senran Kagura. However, none of these compare to the zaniness of Grandpa Danger.
Grandpa Danger was originally a comic strip found in the popular Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro. Due to these video game-related origins, Namco Bandai decided that the popular character deserved a game series of his own, and this is the latest one. From the screenshots recently unveiled by the developer(which you can find after the break), it can be gleaned that Grandpa Danger is a side-scrolling platformer with a style similar to the old Bonk’s Adventure and Air Zonk games. The attacks, enemies, and visuals all reveal a sense of unique, absurd humor that differentiates it from anything out there right now.
At a time when another mustachioed side-scroller series is believed to be playing it safe, is this wackier variant more appealing?
