Link_naviMany Zelda fans know the line “Hey, listen!” from Link’s fluttering companion, Navi, in Ocarina of Time. And of course, most fans know that she was one of the most annoying companions in video game history, while I know a few others who would argue against that. So this sparks a debate- during your playthrough(s) of Ocarina of Time, was Navi an utter annoyance, or did you see her as a benefit? Did absolutely any of her phrase loops get to you…? I’m sure all of you have your opinions on this particular fairy, so if you’d like to get a refresher on exactly who Navi is, and comment on what you thought of her, hit the jump to check out more!

I’m just going to briefly give everyone the rundown on who Navi is, so that we can all jog our memory on exactly what we have gone through (as if some of us could forget). In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, you start the game with the introduction of your companion, Navi. This fluttering fairy was sent to Link by the Great Deku Tree, and she wasn’t too happy about it either. However, later on in the story, they become quite the team. Anyways, during the game you’ll constantly pass by things that are worth noting… or just simply looking at. Whenever this happens, you’ll get a “Hey, listen!” or a “Look!”. Or, maybe when there’s an enemy, you’ll get a “Watch out!” (she also happened to say “Hello!” to a Kokiri on her way to Link). And that’s basically the gist of it.

So during your adventure, you’re sure to be greeted with “Hey, listen!” and “Watch out!” many, MANY times.  But hey, that’s all in the enjoyment of playing Ocarina of Time.  You’ll get past it soon enough.  For the meantime, I thought I’d give you a little something- for your enjoyment (and only your enjoyment), I’ll even throw in this complimentary loop of “Hey, listen!”.Enjoy!

So then, now that I have reminded you of this precious little fairy what are your thoughts…? Was Navi just an annoyance, or did she benefit you during your journey through Hyrule? Would you like to see Navi in future Zelda games (somehow)? Sound off in the comments!
