GameCube-ConsoleMajora’s Mask 3D came out yesterday, after the massive Operation Rainfall following of fans that wanted Ocarina of Time‘s timeless sequel to be properly updated. This was a long time coming since The Wind Waker HD came out in the midst of Fan’s cries for Majora’s Mask 3D. That being said, there are still another two Gamecube Zelda titles that no one has pushed to be remade, so is that an indication that they should not be? Are they worth being remade/re-released for another modern console?

The Wind Waker has now been remade, and The Minish Cap has been re-released on Virtual Console. If Nintendo only went by fan support of a certain game, they would easily choose to remake Twilight Princess, but there is a lot more to it than that, I believe. If they were merely going in order of release, Four Swords Adventures would be next, but a re-release of that seems unlikely, much less a remake. Neither of these games seems, to me, likely for a remake.

Darknut-twilightFirstly, Twilight Princess does not have any glaring issues that could be resolved in a new iteration. The Wind Waker had major criticism over the sailing, among many small details, that were fixed up to make for a big change in the HD release, along with the obvious new look. Twilight Princess is quite polished, and does not seem like it needs any sort of fixes. It is also very impressive graphically, so how much could be made better, aside from polygon counts? This is similar to the case of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D. The former was a simple decision of remaking a beloved classic, but the latter was the interesting point. It was heavily fan-requested, but actually gave Nintendo a chance to introduce a new generation to a classic game, while fixing up a lot of things fans were annoyed by the first time around. As for Four Swords Adventures, this is not a very popular title, and is a rather simple top-down game that I doubt anyone needs a remake of.

New-3DS-Screenshot-01In my eyes, I still firmly believe Nintendo needs to start releasing Gamecube titles on Virtual Console, including Twilight Princess and Four Swords adventures. They are both great games, and since there are now Wii titles available in the eShop, why not these? Remakes seem simply not required, and I would prefer they work on a brand new game with their time, but re-releasing them is a move that I think is not just important, but required. the Wii U, and even the the New 3DS, can handle it, and I know I’m not the only one that wants it. What do you guys think? Do you want these Gamecube games re-released, or even entirely remade? Leave a comment below!
