Get Down on Halloween with this Link’s Awakening Medley from OverClocked Remix

Halloween is here once again, folks, and it wants a big scary hug from all the Zelda fans out there. Our favorite series has featured ghosts, ghouls, monsters, and all other sorts of creatures that go bump in the night. Take this spectacularly amazing Link’s Awakening medley, for instance, that unintentionally just screams this time of year.
The Zelda medley that we’re listening to today comes to us from Timmie Wong (AKA DDRKirby(ISQ)) of OverClocked Remix and is a part of the recently released community collaboration album Songs of the Sirens: Link’s Awakening ReMixed. Called “Domain of Darkness”, this spooky chip/EDM remix is a medley featuring some of the eerie-sounding music from Link’s Awakening. The medley includes the tunes “Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms”, “Forest”, “Koopa’s Theme”, “Lost Woods”, and “Mysterious Forest”. It also features references to games such as Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Super Mario RPG, Mega Man, and Shovel Knight.
OverClocked ReMix’s Community Manager, Larry Oji agrees that DDRKirby(ISQ) definitely brought it in this medley remix:
Larry Oji: “Timmie always brings it, and even if this had stuck to just the Mysterious Forest theme, this would have been great. The seamless weaving in of other classic Nintendo theme cameos was such a nice touch, and really took my appreciation to another level (my personal favorites were the Super Mario 64 and A Link to the Past ones). As always, DDRKirby showcases great dynamic contrast throughout in his arranging; when working with what some would consider a more limited sound palette like 8-bit style leads, textural variation can be make or break, but it’s something Timmie never, ever has a problem with. The near-6 minutes went by just like that, and I’m already looping it for more! :-)”
