Ganon the Animation

95956Animator Alexis Morand recently posted an amazing new video featuring animated adventures of the Gerudo king titled Ganon. In the video we see some popular scenes from various parts of the series such as Koholint Island, Lost Woods, and Death Mountain only from the perspective of Ganondorf in the place of Link. He wanders from familiar scene to familiar scene to a musical score from James O’Connor Moneley.

I’ve always been a huge The Legend of Zelda fan, ever since I got a copy of Ocarina of Time way back in 1996, so I decided to make an animation/montage based on the series. It was really just a way of making an homage to my favourite games with a very loose narrative, while working on my digital painting, colour theory and composition with a little bit of animation thrown in.

Special thanks to the Fajita Knights for the encouragement. Conor Whelan (incrementally instrumental), check out the badass trailer for his new short film vimeo.com/117516133 . Cormac Kelly for the help with the audio and Piranha Bar for generally being a cool bunch to work with! Oh and ArtCrit Dublin for the great critiques.

I have seen a lot of fan animations over the years, and this one is really well done. I especially love the musical score that was made for it. It captures the mood perfectly each scene. I was a little surprised at first since I did not expect to see Ganondorf in the place of Link on the raft from the Link’s Awakening opening scene. Seeing Volvagia and Skull Kid was interesting. I would recommend definitely checking it out on fullscreen to get the full impact of all the visuals.

Let us know your thoughts on the animation in the comments!
