GameXplain hosts Andre Segers, Josh Thomas and Derrick Bitner just released a discussion on their experience with the Tri Force Heroes demo at E3 and offered their thoughts on the gameplay, dungeons, bosses, co-op-oriented mechanics (such as shared health and the totem mechanic), and more. Unsurprisingly, they didn’t agree on all points and offered some interesting insights, arguments and rebuttals around their experiences and assessments of the game.

Josh and Derrick expressed excitement about this latest Zelda multiplayer installment, considering it to be the Four Swords sequel they never thought was coming. In fact, they insisted it was even better than Four Swords, due to its emphasis on team work, while Andre wasn’t feeling the gameplay overall, finding the totem mechanic restrictive and the lack of exploration a downer. One major contention between the commentators was whether or not the co-op oriented mechanics of the game were a strength or a weakness.

Although Derrick and Josh praised the game as their favorite at Nintendo’s booth, expressing excitement at purchasing the game and applauding the innovative nature of the boss fights and co-op play, Andre continued to have reservations. All three also shared their thoughts on other aspects of the game, such as the icons for communication and the costume mechanic.

What do you think of GameXplain’s discussion of the game? Do you agree with Andre, that you’d prefer to see more competition like in Four Swords, or are you with Josh and Derrick, that the cooperative nature of the game is a strength? Let us know your thoughts!
