The first of four exclusive videos as part of the Game Informer exclusive feature is now available. This video shows Link jumping off an edge and landing on his bird. It also shows how he goes about landing on the lands below. The new location that is revealed is the Eldin Volcano and it is described as an active volcano with the power of the Earth. It appears that the area he lands on is not a floating island in the Sky, but instead, one of the land areas below. Jump inside for more analysis.

We had previously confirmed that Link would travel on his bird to get to the various floating islands above. However, from this video it appears that this bird will also transport Link to the lands below. At this point it is still unclear whether there will actually be a full-blown overworld down below or if the only means of transportation from place to place is Link’s bird. There is still a lot of questions to be answered.

The other obvious points of reference is the name, the Eldin Volcano. This is significant since it carries the same name as the province in Twilight Princess. Furthermore, the volcano located in the Eldin Province was none other than Death Mountain. Perhaps this Eldin Volcano is in fact Death Mountain? Additionally, the use of the name Eldin originally came from the goddess Din. In Ocarina of Time there was the magic spell known as Din’s Fire so perhaps this is a connection with the volcano. It is also very likely that Eldin Volcano will be the location of the Goron race in Skyward Sword as they usually live in warm regions.

Another observation that can be made is in the words of Phi, Link’s sidekick. Notably, Phi refers to Link as Master. Now, I’m not exactly sure what this entails, but it does give a brighter outlook on the relationship. It has been confirmed that Phi is the spiritual embodiment of the actual Skyward Sword that Link carries. I’m interested to find out how Link goes about obtaining the Skyward Sword and how this relationship is formed.

Within the new video we also get to hear the orchestrated overworld music while Link is flying. It’s nice indeed and perhaps I’m just not used to it… but hearing orchestrated music in a Zelda game almost feels out of place. This surely won’t be the case once we get our hands on the game come November of this year.
