Hey guys! New video discussion. This isn’t really supposed to be about me making a point this time, although I guess I still try to do that at the end. This video is simply some thoughts on a topic I’ve been thinking about a lot lately… which is the idea of Zelda games as totally standalone experiences not meant to connect to the other games in the series. You can watch the video here or view the video embed after the jump.

It’s definitely an interesting topic I think. Many Zelda games didn’t seem to have any relevance to the rest in the series until Hyrule Historia revealed the timeline, making it seem like the series was just supposed to be a bunch of separate tales. But then you had games like Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and the DS games, which blatantly connect to plot elements from previous games and reference their characters. So clearly there is some continuity. This video is about the dichotomy between the two aspects, basically.

What do you think? Which is more important, storytelling and continuity, or is having the stories be unique and standalone? Or do you agree they can do both? Tell me in the comments!
