Fractured Soul: Nintendo Life Interview, 8 Years in the Making
Posted on September 09 2012 by George Moujaes
What will finally culminate in a North American 3DS eShop appearance, Australian-developed Fractured Soul has been in the making for 8 years. Nintendo Life has interviewed Endgame Studios on the peculiar situation of this Sci-Fi 2D game, which will be self published and release digitally on September 13th. In the same vein as Mega Man, this is a run, jump and shoot em up with a twist, you will be playing across the two screens to navigate the levels and avoid obstacles.
First discussed were the hesitations with distributing the game on DSiWare, then co-founder Grant Davies goes over the sharp turns in financial difficulties, which were “too many times to count,” the consideration of extending the game to XBLA and PC at the expense of low-res graphics and new costs to fix this, publishing deals that subsequently fell through, and much more. The game in-fact was visually remade and remodeled for 3D and to ‘modernize’ its appearance on the 3DS, with added online rankings and speed run options. Suffice it to say that you should take a look at the interview and greatly consider this game given its arduous and labored development. Games like these don’t come around often, and when they do, they are usually invariably, special creations.
