Your Skyloft Name

There's a generator for a Hylian name I saw in another thread. This isn't a generator...

Be creative! Come up with your own Skyloftian name! If you lived on Skyloft, what do you think you might be called? Remember, most of the characters are named after BIRDS! The names tend to be varients on birds/sky-creature names. Pipit is "pipit-bird" for example, "Groose" is either from "grouse or goose," Parrow and Sparrot both have hints of "sparrow and parrot" in their names... Batreaux has a mammal-name, "bat" but it's a flying creature...

I think I might be...

Griffia

Named after my favorite sky-beast, the mythical griffin. It counts - it is a flying creature/ at least half-bird. If I were a male, I might just be "Griffin" - because that is an actual man's name, though rare.

Phoenin

Unfortunately, when it comes to creativity I am a dud. The name spawns from the legendary Phoenix bird from mythology of course which at the ed of its life cycle is said to burn itself and its nest from which a new phoenix arises.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

*racks brain* My skyloft knight OCs dont have birdy names, because they're also Fire Emblem wyvern rider OCs...they fit two fandoms. Not all skyloftians have to have birdy names, as shown with Link and Zelda. And Gaepora to a certain extent. And Luv and Bertie. Also, Sparrot looks like a mix between sparrow and tarot. Like tarot cards...he IS a fortune teller.

I'd love to have a name derived from a predatory bird, like a hawk or an owl, because they're just so awesome. But I'll have to settle for being named after a mean, but cool, songbird, because I can't think of anything else. I had a bird feeder up once, and blue jays would come and scare the other birds away so they could have all the sunflower seeds. And according to my great aunt, blue jays sometimes steal nests by killing the baby birds inside. Idk. I like them anyway.

The name I came up with is Jayla. Can anyone think of a predatory bird female name? I'm stumped...

*Sparrot = Parrot and Sparrow with "tarot" thrown in reference to tarot cards...

Hmm... I guess my name would be Dise [Dice], in reference to Birds of Paradise, my favorite bird. However, my personality is more akin to owls, who are associated with great knowledge... With that in mind, I guess my Skyloft name would be Tyto in reference to Barn Owls [Family: Tytonidae]. :/ Dise would be a nickname.

The first thing that comes to my mind is Ket. You see it kind of short for kestrel. They are quite remarkable birds.

I would have to say my name would be Raptorn which is based on Raptor or "bird of prey"

A varient of Caracara? The Caracara (if I'm spelling it correctly) is a predatory plains bird of South America. Or possible "Cassie" from Cassowary - a large and rather dangerous flightless bird.

Yeah, I worked in a zoo for a couple of years - long ago.

I just thought: I had a minor OC in one of my stories named "Kestra." Her name is dervived from the kestral, a small falcon. I was thinking a possible alternate name for myself might be "Aura" (if it weren't for the new-agey connotations) because it's a part of the Latin/species name for the common turkey vulture - and I like vultures. So, there's another female carnivore-bird name...

I remember Kestra. She delivered Link and Zelda's first kid...

Those sound cool enough, but I was aiming towards hawk, eagle, owl, etc. Not a big fan of vultures because they're gross(they poop on their legs to cool them off), but I respect them. Without scavengers like them, there'd be rotting dead things everywhere. And, I've actually grown attached to the name Jayla.

I don't really know waht to go with. I have this fav black and blue bird that always flies around the neighborhood. Not sure what it is.

Black all over, Dark bluish stomach, can someone place it?

Perhaps you speak of a grackle? Is it shiny? Kind of irridescent feathers? If so, it might be a grackle.

*Pats Peterson's Guide to Eastern Birds* - a limiting book as it only covers United States birds and eastern rather than western, but it's been a fixture near my laptop ever since I started writing Skyward Sword fanfiction.

(If for nothing more than finding out what, exactly, a pipit is). Yeah.
