General Classic Which is Easier: a Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time?

I know that A Link to the Past extremely easy. But I have never played Ocarina of Time like it was meant to be played: with a real N64. I know that I'm going to end up knowing for sure in a few months(when I will have finally saved enough to buy OoT), but for those who have played them both: which is easier? I'm asking because I know someone who claims that he beat OoT in only a few days when he was 6, but I'm not sure I can trust him since he's not really a true Zelda fan who has compared them and still plays the classics.

Ihave been playing zelda games for 25 yrs.
As ive played both on there original consoles id say lttp is just slightly easier.
But there is so little difference.
The difference to me is the water temple in oot which is frustrating and will take a while to work out with help.
But these 2 are sure the best 2 in the series.
Why not get yourself the original consoles for both games.
not hard to find them.

Yes oot can be completed in a few days if you play it a lot each day.
when your friend says he completed it did he mean with no walkthrough and complete all side quests.
But i doubt he did it when he was six without any help.

While both games were not that hard anyway, I personally think that OoT is a bit easier, especially combat-wise (puzzle-wise they are equal for me). You don't lose that many hearts easily and I also found the final boss easier in OoT (you don't even need magic to beat beast Ganon). OoT takes more time to beat though, I can 100% aLttP in 3-4 hrs, in OoT I need more than 12. But this is because of the 3D and the fact that there's generally less action per time.

i think OoT is a bit easier. maybe it's because i'm better at 3D zeldas? anyways, i really only think Alttp is harder because there's a lot of cheap shots the game throws at you (i'm looking at YOU ice temple) making it pretty easy to lose hearts

As far as puzzles/dungeons, it's pretty much a toss up. As far as survival goes, OoT is the less difficult of the 2 IMO. There are overall fewer monsters, and it has a more effective fighting system with Z-targeting which keeps you facing the enemy at all times, not to mention other nearby enemies won't attack you while you're in Z-Target.

I definitely think LttP is harder. Most of the blame for this lies with the excellent targeting system in OoT making battles easier. Also I have a much harder time with the bosses in LttP than in OoT.

I'm pretty good at a Link to the past because I have literally played it sooo many times so I find it easier but when I first played it I do recall some of the puzzles being pretty hard.
However I'd still go with saying Ocarina of time is harder simply because in a 2d space I feel more in control because I can see everything but with 3d games you have to look around and observe your surroundings by moving the camera which can be a bit dodgy with some games.

I have a SNES, but its second controller slot is dieing :( No more 2-player Donkey Kong Country or kirby's avelanch ever! And of course Luigi is petrified.
I just bought an n64, but I have no games for it. What (probably used) Zelda game should I buy first?

If you're talking about N64 Zeldas, definitely get Ocarina of Time before Majora's Mask. MM is a direct sequel, and due to the gameplay mechanics being pretty much identical for both games, OoT will get you accustomed to it with its training early in the game.

Ocarina of Time is much easier than A Link to the Past. Within the first two dungeons of each game my death count in ALttP was 6 and then I got lost and couldn't figure out where to go next and I died trying to do that. In OoT my death count was zero and it was obvious where to go.

That is so not true. I know this because I died about 3 times in the mini-boss room of the Forest Temple because the other stalfos kept attacking me whle I was looking at the other.

As for difficulty, if you don't count OoT's Water Temple aLttP is harder because it's not as easy to get lost.

LttP is easier: shorter dungeons, less involved heart pieces, whereas OoT is much bigger, the heart pieces r more complicated, and the weapons are not all as linear in terms of dungeons. Both are still amazing games, and with Majora's Mask, the best 3 Zelda games ever made. No Zelda game tho is as easy as TP, tho TP is god awfully boring too.

Well, it's kind of a matter of opinion. For me, OoT is easier, but I play both on Virtual Console, not their original consoles. For me though, I've died WAY MORE in ALttP than in OoT.

For me, obviously the Ocarina of Time. It was pretty easy, and you knew where to got, what to get, etc etc. But I am still playing A Link to the Past and I still can defeat it. I got all 3 pendant's and now I'm stuck on what to do. So, yeah. Ocarina of Time got's my vote.

ALttP is undeniably harder than OoT, especially in terms of combat; it seems like ALttP enemies do far more damage than OoT enemies on average. Though I don't remember exactly how many times I died on each game my first time, I died a lot more times on ALttP than OoT.
