A lot of people complain about how the train is dumb...I disagree.
I really like both games, but I can't say which one I like more.

I have to confess that I agree with the majority opinion. I feel that Spirit Tracks was superior to Phantom Hourglass. However, I don't think Phantom Hourglass is a bad game, and I feel that it's almost on par with Spirit Tracks. In some ways, I even like it better. It seems like PH had a bigger assortment of minigames, for instance, and that you had a little more freedom with the ship than with the train.

However, there is one major innovation that ST brought to the table, and that's the ability to possess phantoms using Zelda. That made the Tower of Spirits much more entertaining than the Temple of the Ocean King, especially since they removed the most frustrating aspect of that title... namely the time limit and the inability to skip past portions of the temple you've already completed three times. I honestly think that the Temple of the Ocean King alone is why PH is so hated. I accidentally broke a DS Lite because of it.

I agree with you completely. Well I can't say that I "loved" Phantom Hourglass, I did quite enjoy it, and found it a fun game to play. I actually didn't mind the controls that much, and even enjoyed the Temple of the Ocean King to a certain extent, especially once you've finished the game. Finish the TotOC with a full 20:00 minutes left on the hourglass was pretty fun. However, I really didn't like Spirit Tracks. I simply found the game incredibly boring. In fact, I got so bored with it near the end that I never even finished it. Now, I was really excited for this game in the days and months leading to it's release, and while I enjoyed it for the first little while, I quickly became quite bored.

Even though riding the train was about as restrictive as the boat in Phantom Hourglass, I still really didn't like it. The escort and fetch-quest side quests did little to make the game more interesting/last longer, as they were incredibly boring. I especially hated giving people rides places, because of the fact that you had to travel even SLOWER, and obey all of the silly signs. The game just wasn't very fun for me.

I'd agree that Phantom Hourglass was better than Spirit Tracks. Spirit Tracks made a few improvements over Phantom Hourglass like not having to repeat sections of the central dungeon and rolling was a lot easier. However, there are very few instances in the entire Zelda series in which I genuinely hate an aspect of a game, but I really hated the train. The train in of itself isn't bad, it's just that having it be the sole means of transport was a poor choice IMO. I would have made the game use trains between the segments of the map, but allow you to wander within those segments on foot. For instance, instead of riding from a town to another stop within a map quadrant, I'd have rather walked there. The problem with a train is that you have to follow the tracks; it inherently is a limitation to exploration. Boats made sense within the Zelda universe (as does Skyward Sword's method of transport), but I think trains don't make sense at all.

Phantom Hourglass was great, I loved it, though some of the controls were a bit hard to get the hang of. There were all these little things you could do and collect, it was fun. Though they made it as a continuation of Wind Waker, which was mildly annoying because there were a lot of differences between the two to be from the same story.

Spirit Tracks SUCKED. Big time. It was too short, too simple, and extremely under-developed. It was like the designers said "Oh, Phantom Hourglass sold well, let's make a parallel game with a shifted story-line and call it good!" It was ridiculous.

I like PH, but I'm not a huge fan of ST. I liked driving the train, but that's pretty much it.

I have not yet completed Spirit Tracks but so far it has been pretty fun. A Zelda title would have to be absolutely terrible for me to use the word hate to describe it.

I actually really liked both Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. But I preferred Spirit Tracks more since I loved the train mechanic. And besides, Spirit Tracks was my first ever Legend of Zelda game! :D

I loved to play both of this games, but I think the phantom hourglass was harder and better.
