Villain?

If Square Enix gave Zelda permission to use one of their villains, I think they should totally go with Kefka. Everyone would expect Sephiroth, and Kefka is twenty times his awesomeness.
But I just completely got off-topic.

The villain needs to truly be EVIL.
Here's my take on EVIL.
The villain summons a meteor that crushes Link's town. this enrages Link, affects the world in a very negative way, and the villain absorbs the power of the shockwaves that the impact of the meteor sent out, thus making him incredibly more powerful. He also needs to completely ravage the land, like Ganon did in Ocarina of Time. But this time, Hyrule doesn't need to have its knee scraped.

Hyrule needs to be completely and utterly BROKEN!!!!!

Hyrule needs to DIE and the power of the Triforce can resurrect it. Plausible story right there.

I agree. There shouldn't be pretty landscape with evil monsters running around (which is what I didn't like about the SS demo at e3). Everything should be dark and in ruins, but when Link restores the area, then it can become beautiful again.

I don't think this villain will be Ganondorf, it will probably be someone completely new.

Though Ganondorf can still appear. If this game predates OoT we might see a child version of Ganondorf. THis could be interesting if it let us see what motivates Ganondorf. We ca see how he, and the rest of the Gerudo, suffer in the chaos of Hyrule and how he desperately wants to change things.

Skyward Sword definitely has promise for epic boss fights. One of the most epic things would be to fight a dragon in Hyrule and then be wisked away on the dragon to resume the fight up in the sky. For plot purposes, the dragon can destroy the Skyward Loft and the Hylians have to go down and settle in Hyrule (whil the Oocca settle in the sky).

didn't build that
I would like to see a brand new villain introduced, perhaps one that had been plaguing Hyrule for some time. Or perhaps they could throw everyone for a loop and make the sitting royal family a family of villains, with Link helping to introduce a new line to the throne.

Regardless of what they choose, I do not want to see Ganondorf again because it would ruin the impact of his introduction in Ocarina of Time.

This is actually what I want to. Everyone remembers Kefka from FFVI right? He just wanted to DESTROY, and have a good laugh while doing it. Best thing is, he actually did it. Became a GOD, and wrecked destruction everywhere. Is it too much to ask to actually have a villain like that? That breaks away from what we've had in the past (namely WW and TP Ganondorf, who really didn't accomplish anything because they were stopped before they could start or finish). I guess to an extent you could say OoT Ganondorf did this, but he didn't really have total destruction as a goal. This comes ups especially in the "Who's more evil" debates with Majora vs OoT Ganondorf. It's always assumed that Majora is because he/she/it (think it's she personally) wanted to destroy completely, and Ganondorf just wanted to rule everything.

So why not have a villain come back like Majora, except that it actually has a cunning mind and plots to get what he wants, and SUCCEEDS in doing so. Exactly like Kefka. This would set the stage for an awesome new take I think. But eh, seems a bit too dark. And as we all know, Zelda must not be dark, or we'll all cry because "it ruins the feeling....".

I like the idea of the villain not being a person that thinks, but a thing. It would be roaming the beautiful, unexplored lands of the land below Skyloft[probably Hyrule], destroying EVERYTHING in his path, and link will have to stop him.

Didn't I already answer this one?
I would really like to see a completely new villain in the series. I love to see new things in the games, and if they tried they could make a new villain 10x better than Ganondorf could ever be. As for what we are likely to see, I'd go with either a completely new villain or Ganondorf. Ganondorf/Ganon is in most of the games throughout the series, but I don't care much for theorizing, so I'm not sure if it would really even be plausible for Ganondorf to be in Skyward Sword. If it wouldn't be, then happy days, here we come, new villain!

I would really like a new main villain because Gannon is getting over used. I don't know how it could be Majora like Rytex said, but I think there will probably be a new villain. If there is not a new villain, it will definitely be Gannon/dorf.
No, it can't be Ganondorf again. Allegedly, this game is a prequel to OoT where Ganondorf was formally introduced. Prior to that, there is no mention of him and I would hate to see another random appearance like in TP. Zant was perfectly fine as the main villain but no. They hadddd to throw him in. >_>
Perhaps they can incorporate Dark Link as a sort of runner up to the main villain, but not the main villain himself. They could still incorporate a sweet fight and some back story if they did something like that.

Majora wouldn't work. That was MM exclusive and I doubt it would work out well in not just this upcoming game, or any others in the future for that matter.

Uhm, I admittedly don't know too much about MC/FS/FSA at all, but would a successor or some sort of minion of Vaati be a possibility? Or is that completely out of the question based on the final outcome of those games...?

Plus you always fight regular Ganon and beast Ganon (at least in TP they did something interesting when he possessed Zelda).

If the new villain is Vaati, I would have mixed feelings. I would love to see a return of one of the most BA villains of all time, but it would totally disprove my timeline! :O

I like the idea of having a crazy evil thing walking the land and you can just see him and if you get close to him he one shots you. Then you finally get the Master Sword to its full power and find him and kick his evil destructive butt!
Well maybe that wouldnt work, but seeing destruction from a main villain would be nice for a change.

the game might make some references to majora and tell some of his origin, but I don't think he will be the main villain.
