I was just curious, is all. I was inspired to do this by PhantomTriforce's thread "How do you pronounce Gerudo?". I just decided to take it a step further and ask about all diferent things.

I prounounce Saria as "Sah-ree-uh".
Gerudo as "Jhe-roo-do".(a "soft G", is what the "jh"sounds like, I think.)
Deku as "Deh-koo".
Ocarina as "Ah-ka-ree-nuh".
Oocco as "Oh-koh".
Farore as "Fair-ore".
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If I missed some, let me know.

Gerudo isn't in the poll because there is already a poll about that one.

I have pronounced Gerudo with a soft G as well. I guess the Ger- reminds me of German in some way and I just naturally do that. However Farore I have always pronounced as Fah-Roar-Ruh. Fae-or just does not sound right at all to me. I have also liked to pronounce Hylia as Hill-Yah.

It kind of bugs me when people say "Ah-ca-rin-a", I say it with a softer "Oh". So Saria is "Sah-ri-a"? That makes more sense I guess. I'll retrain myself! :P

From a similar thread (http://zeldadungeon.net/forum/showthread.php?10950-Pronounciations):

(Not using the normal quote function because IPA doesn't look that good in italics and I can't find a way to un-italicize it. New additions to the list are in red. Note that the IPA is just an approximation and might not be 100% accurate)

* Has an entirely different name in German
{/QUOTE}

I'm not a native speaker of English and I have quite different pronunciations in English and German (I'm speaking a strong dialect in which initial voiced consonants usually become voiceless and r often combines with a preceding vowel, it's somewhat similar to the "non-rhotic" accents in English).

From the list you can see that I pronounce (in English, using your transcription):
- Gerudo as "guh-ROO-dough"
- Saria as "Sar-ee-a" (2nd option)
- Deku either as "Deh-koo" (1st option) or as "Day-koo" but never as "Dee-koo" But I always use a short /u/ sound as in "look" at the end, never a long one (/uː/) as in "fool"
- Ocarina as "Ah-ka-ree-na" (1st option)
- Ooccoo as "OO-coo" (not in your list/2nd option), with two long /uː/ sounds (Fun fact: In German she's called "Tante" (=aunt) but don't ask me how they came up with such a weird translation...)
- Farore as "fuh-RAW-ri" (close to your 2nd option), close to "Ferrari"

For certain words, I sometimes also use a pseudo-Japanese pronunciation for fun which sounds like this (note that unlike in German and English, the stops /p/, /t/ and /k/ are always unaspirated as in English /sp/, /st/ and /sk/):

- Kotake: [kɔˈta.kɛ]
- Koume:
[ˈk.mɛ]
- Zelda:
[ˈzɛɺ.da]
- Link: [
ˈɺiŋ.kɯ̆]
- Chuchu:
[ˈt̠͡ɕɰ.t̠͡ɕɰ]

I'm seriously the only one who uses Dee-koo? If I see a vowel-consonant-vowel, I usually pronounce the first vowel long... I'd think that Deh-koo would be spelled Dekku or Decku and not Deku.

Saria - Suh-RY-uh
Deku - DEE-koo
Ocarina - Ah-kuh-REE-nuh
Farore - FAIR-roar
Gerudo - Heh-ROO-doh (this is how it would be pronounced in Spanish, and when I first saw the word it struck me as Hispanic)
