Spoiler My Mini-rant About Why I Dislike Skyward Sword

I've finished the game, and I have a few complaints. First, the bosses are lacking in quantity. Since each Ghirahim fight is just slightly harder than the previous, I don't count those as separate fights. So in essence we have Ghirahim, Scaldera, Koloktos, Tantalus, Bilocyte, Moldarach, and Demise.

Ghirahim is a decent boss, but is only mildly challenging at the last stage. Scaldera is plain easy and honestly boring; run, drop bomb, throw bomb, slash. Rinse lather repeat. Koloktos is epic, and I truly loved the boss. Tantalus was decent, but I couldn't help but constantly think of how stupid he looked. He looked like a rejected character from Monsters' Inc rather than a fierce monster. Bilocyte was interesting, but such a rehashed idea that it was almost redundant. I did enjoy how the loftwing was incorporated in the fight, though. Moldarach was definitely the easiest and stupidest boss. I hadn't played the E3 demo, but it was honestly boring, stupid, and just plain simple. I took no damage, like in Scaldera and Ghirahim Part 1. Moldarach was so bad that they actually reuse him as an over world mini boss!

Demise is...well you know how I feel about demise. How can I sum up Demise? Anticlimactic?! That's about right. I took ONE hit on my first try, and on the second and third took no damage. Totally lame, especially since he's the epitome of darkness!

Next, some of the enemies just got boring. For the most part, the only enemies we deal with are Bokoblins, Keese, Gels, Deku Babas and Lizalfos. What?! Yes, there are some dungeon specific enemies like the armos and the beamos and kargoroks, but for the most part, all the enemies are rehashes of these main 5 enemies. It becomes awfully boring after a while; my least favorite was the Bokoblin, as they are too persistent. I spent TOO much time waiting for the bokoblins to move their swords.

Third, the songs. I don't want to spoil too much, but the songs you learn on the harp are so strange. They aren't catchy like the OoT or WW songs. Such a defining element of the games shouldn't be so weak...

Finally, the over usage of the A-Button. What was wrong with the B-Button that naturally felt like a trigger?! My wrist honestly hurt at times, and I really disliked this control choice.

There it is. My mini-review/rant about Skyward Sword.

I hate when gamers equate difficulty to a game being good. Portal 2 and Super Mario 3D Land are two other games just from this year that are not hard but have such interesting level design that it draws you in. Skyward Sword may not be as hard as Demon's Souls or something, but it allows you to experience something you will surely never experience in real life. THAT is the point of gaming, not difficulty.

You don't understand, if a game is too easy then it won't be considered good by a veteran of a series. I say the complaints featured in this thread are entirely justified. The FINAL BOSS of a game should not be a cakewalk. It shouldn't have such ridiculous AI such that a noob (i.e myself) can find every single loophole and can figure out the fastest, non-TAS method for world record time. Demise was exactly that, however. The enemies of Skyward Sword from what I've seen (I've almost seen it all) have their 'defense' just for the sake of it. Bokoblins being able to block like they do means nothing at all when they can take a maximum of two, maybe three hits, and when they can deal an upwards of a half heart worth of damage. That doesn't even take into account their rate of fire, which is abysmal to even the most 'casual' of players. Skyward Sword may not be a 'hardcore' game, but that doesn't mean it has to be geared towards casual players. Of course, Hero Mode may change my mind. :right:

It's not geared toward casuals... and furthermore, if we're gonna go down that route, Nintendo has been aiming for the casual market ever since Super Mario Bros.

It sure seems so, what with ingame help for the simplest of things (though that has a HIGH chance to be for people who do not/cannot own the game manual or have certain problems with motor skills). What I'm trying to say is, a game shouldn't be hyped as the best or even presented as such without having backing. That doesn't mean SS doesn't have backing, but games in general.

Sounds like a typical Zelda game to me. I havent yet found a boss in the legend of Zelda that is challenging, because primarily its aimed for a younger audience.

Hmmmmm....
Just wondering, how was Scervo?

Easy, like all the other overworld bosses. The best one was Imprisoned, and only because he was freaking huge and the fanboy inside me was raging.

One other thing I just remembered:

I hate how they removed the mechanic of "defeat a dungeon boss and get the dungeon item." the majority of the game's items are found through the Silent Realm trials; not only does this eliminate possible fights, but the remaining mini bosses are sometimes not present! For example, in the Fire Sanctuary, Magnamanos serves no purpose but to elevate you. It would've been a great concept, but NOPE they mess it up and remove that mini boss.

Additionally, I was hoping for a good Mining Factory mini boss. It could've been something interesting, but NO, they just HAND you the gust bellows. Weak.
