Memories of days gone by

Is there a song, movie, video, a game, or even a phrase that takes you back to your younger days.

For me, any time I pop in Lego Indiana Jones or any of the two Lego Star Wars games into my PS2, it instantly reminds me of carefree days messing around with my siblings.

Super Mario World music does that for me. It has such a nostalgia to it. Takes me back to being young, sitting on the floor infront of the tv, either playing or watching my siblings play.

Backstreet Boys music also takes me back. I remember in elementary school during one field day (where we got to spend all day outside), hanging out with my older cousin with a group of other kids and listening to Backstreet Boys on a portable radio. As well as a VHS that my aunt recorded for us. We didn't have cable/satellite so she would make us recordings of stuff to watch and one had a Backstreet Boys TV concert on it. I watched that thing a lot.

Cars will forever be my favorite animated film, it just reminds of a simpler time.

The thing that takes me back the most are scents... I can't even give a specific example, but certain scents just trigger memories. If I visit my grandma for example, her house smells a certain way and it always has. When you enter the movie theater it always smells a certain way and it brings me back too

Songs can bring back memories. It doesn't have to be a special memory but sometimes when I hear certain songs memories come back. Then I try to analyse what makes this memory so special and often it isn't even special at all. But I guess the usual daily things become more special when combined with certain songs

Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 are definitely the main games that get me nostalgic since those games are responsible for starting my gaming journey. I didn't play Super Mario World until the GBA, but I also feel nostalgic towards that game.

Some music artists that make me nostalgic are Michael Jackson, Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, and Jason Derulo.

As many others have mentioned here, video game soundtracks always strongly evoke memories of days gone by for me.

Earlier this week I visited my childhood best friend and held her (less than) one month old baby for the first time. We had some old video game soundtracks playing in the background feeling nostalgic and also amazed at how much time has gone by. Thinking how different life is as an adult compared to being kids with no worries in the world.
