junk calls/emails

Inspired by @TheGreatCthulhu how do you deal with them....aka me i ignore the phone and panic over emails until someone calms me down....

I used to practice my voices on the spam callers but I don't really get them anymore.

I ignore junk mail though sometimes I read it if it looks like it might be funny

I used to just let it ring in case active declines made them try harder but now I just decline everything instant

theres nothing to really do about it unfortunstely. i block all the numbers but they use fake numbers and scramble them so you get the same calls from new numbers anyway.

i always listen to voicemails but most dont leave them. and the emails i just trash

and the texts... are definitely the worst of the three because theyre nsfw. i block AND trash those.

My hatred for scammers knows no bounds.

All though just get insta-blocked. Some leave voicemails but it's always a robot. Those get insta-deleted.

In fact, during election times it gets worse, I got an unreasonable amount of texts and emails telling me to go vote for the shmuck they want to win. Guess who didn't vote for them? Yep, this guy! Now all of those numbers and emails got blocked.

If it's something truly important, you'll leave an actual voicemail with a number to call you back, or you send snail mail.

I put any spam emails in the trash. As for calls, at least for my provider, Verizon, they're pretty good about detecting spam calls, though I still do accidentally pick up a spam call once in a while.

My iPhone has a feature that I did not know about until later, but basically when activated it automatically silences any calls that are not in my contacts list. My only complaint is that it does not work for spam text messages, I still get those, but to not answer spam calls when they first call, it is a start in the right direction.

I generally just ignore spam text messages or emails but if I pick up a phone call from a scammer I love to play with them and waste their time for as long as possible so they aren't spending that time getting ahold of someone else's money.

I don't answer the phone if there's no caller ID ever, and I usually just let it ring out until its done. If it was important they'll leave a message and I'll call back. This is a foolproof strategy.

if it's a spam call and someone answers, I love messing with them as much as I can
otherwise I just delete the voicemails and texts and whatnot that get sent my way

I like to string Discord scammers along since I can step away without necessarily throwing the scam off. I'm a big fan of the people who approach your Steam profile and claim that they "accidentally reported" you for something you didn't do and that your account is at imminent risk of being banned. I always direct them to my secondary Discord account (since they always seem to want to go through Discord) and use to low level photo editing to make it look like their scam attempts are experiencing technical difficulties.

Then when the conversation reaches its climax, I send them porn.

I wonder how they got my number, but so far been just blocking and reporting them
I know it doesn't do much, but I guess it is what it is
