Breath of the Wild Have we seen too much already?

We've seen hours and hours of gameplay videos of BoTW which mostly sees people exploring the Great Plateau, its a huge place and we're still finding secrets even now...

Outside of the demo we've seen the Treehouse team venture briefly outside of the Plateau and the trailers have shown us glimpses of other terrains such as the desert. We've also seen a fair few enemies, from standard bokoblins, skullbokoblins, the giant moblin, chu-chus and a freaky skeleton walking along the edge of a cliff to name but a few.

We have a long list of items and a good idea of the new physics engine too...

There is still a lot to be discovered, both story and location-wise, but has all of this been too much too soon with 5months still to go before release?

Skyward Sword released with almost everything the game had to offer already available to view through released footage, this meant the game held no surprises at all...

It'd be a feat for Nintendo to show us most of BotW before release given how big the game supposedly will be. But have they ruined a few too many surprises?

It would have been cool to suddenly come across that giant Moblin or the giant skeleton from the trailer.... im sure the game will have many more surpirses but are Nintendo in danger of revealing too much again with 5 months still to go?

I dont think what they have showed us has been THAT exciting. A giant skeleton or moblin would be allright to come across without prior knowledge of them but neither of those things are particularly out there. I get the feeling there is loads they are hiding from us and that we have seen only the basics of what to expect.

We have seen the basic gameplay of what Link can do in the over world and how he can explore but we have seen hardly anything of what can actually be found there. It might seem big but the Great Plateau is actually pretty small when compared to the rest of the overworld. We must also not forget that gameplay is only half of the experience. You get the odd person who only cares about gameplay but most seem to care about the story and characters of Zelda. In terms of that we have only really seen the Old Man and heard the mysterious voice.

I dont think they will actually be able to reveal too much in the five months. I remember when the Witcher 3 was coming I watched all the trailers which were mostly packed with excitement and built hype with each one. By the end I felt I simply HAD to have the game. When I actually played it I didn't feel like they had really spoiled it at all. There might have been moments I recognised from the trailers but the game was so big they couldn't spoil it in a significant way.

I feel now they need to start to reveal more to build the hype up to release. They need to start to tease the story, show some characters and show a dungeon.

Now I haven't been glued to the BOTW reveals as a whole, but it seems the bulk of what has been conveyed to we audience members stems from perspectives of terrain/environment and small tinges of gameplay occurring in the revealed environments. Based on this presumption alone, I'd wager Nintendo has not revealed too much as of yet; also taking into account the long wait until the time the first set of these reveals came to us. Story elements, as far as I know, remain a mystery, and what we have been given only adds to the intrigue.

Presently, I'd say Nintendo is doing the right thing in remaining relatively cryptic, having not revealed too much as of yet. They'll just need to makes sure to find that fine line where the revelation of new information could potentially be too much before the storm.

I think Nintendo is working very hard to avoid spoiling anything for us. We might even argue that they're doing too good a job at not throwing us anything juicy to nibble on. About what they have showed us, though, the Moblin and skeleton and rock dude- at first I was worried that I wouldn't feel excited when I finally met them in game, but thinking about it now? I'll probably be more excited because "oh my gosh this is it! This is that thing from the trailer! I'm really doing it!"

I'm not worried about Nintendo spoiling. They're usually pretty good about gluing secrets to their chest and then covering them with a thousand layers of camo duck tape.

I don't think they have spoiled too much either, certainly not for a game of this size. It might feel spolier-y because they showed a lot of the plateau, but they didn't show any towns and they showed very quick qlimpses of other areas.

I think if they showed too little, we'd actually be wondering what they're hiding, because it would look like they either had no confidence in their game or they were trying to cover up something dodgy.

We know next to nothing about the story and have seen in total like roughly 3-4% (counting EVERY scene including outside the Great Plateau) of the entire game, I think we're not even close to revealing as much as SS was revealed

was it in the tp demo were they showed the scorpion boss (sorry I forget the name) in a woodland environment but then moved it to a different style of dungeon? The size of the game should mean not too much can be revealed and they can always change details to keep us guessing

No that be Suckward Sword you are thinking of.

Nothing of importance to the plot has actually been shown in BoTW so far and they could easily move the Steppe Tallus and big Moblin to other areas like they moved the scorpion.

For the most point we have only seen the starter area of the game. We have not even scratched the surface. With all we have seen, it makes the game more impressive actually.

I have tried to avoid it as much as possible. The same thing I did with Xenoblade X, so as to not spoil the plot (joke's on me, it didn't have a plot). But I will do the same for this game. I saw the first major video they showed a few months back and that's all I will see. I avoided the subsequent Treehouse because I want to be able to control what I see of the game.

I miss the days where a game's existence would be revealed to you on a commercial on TV instead of years in advance, and trailer after trailer ruined the entire experience before the game even launched.
