Smash bros or street fighter. The only fighting games I consider myself to be good at so that makes them my favorite.

Mine would have to be Mortal Kombat 2. That was my first fighting game and I loved it. The sheer blood gore of it with the fatalities. It was awesome! I loved just trying new things out to see what moves I could come up with and button mashing in hopes of getting a fatality if I didn't know the combo. That game will always hold a place in my heart as my #1 fighting game.

I couldn't have said it better myself. There's just something really special about MK2. Everytime I play it, I feel as though I'm in that world. It was, by far, the best of the series too.

I love fighting games man.

Some of my favorites are

King of Fighters series. Play it all day

The Capcom Crossover series. SNK Vs Capcom 2, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. W00t!

Street Fighter 2 and 3rd Strike

Killer Instinct - they need to make a new one

I just love all fighting games

Super Smash Bros. Brawl by far. I'd say Melee because it has a superior physics engine, however, Brawl boasts the online advantage. And the game is ripe with features aplenty! Classic, Adventure, All-Star, Event Match, Stadium, Online modes, and more! Oh my! And then there are those scrumptious trophies and stickers to collect! Yup, definitely a game that takes months even years to complete. Just my two cents. ;)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I liked most things about Melee better, but the adventure mode, balance and character variety in Brawl make it my choice.

I never really got into fighting games, mainly because I am not the type of person who does combos. I am a total button-masher when it comes to games like that, since I am paying attention to the action going on in the game, rather than the controller itself.
That being said, I have always liked Super Smash Bros. It requires skill to play, and, at the same time, does not require you to memorize sequences of buttons that you have to press ridiculously fast. It still requires you to think quickly, but it does so in a much more logical way. Also, I prefer to play games with a story or some type of achievement system, as they give me a sense of satisfaction for actually accomplishing something. Super Smash Bros. is perfect for me in this way too, with the trophy system and The Subspace Emissary (in Brawl). To quote Pokemon, "Gotta catch 'em all!"
I have not played too many other fighting games besides Super Smash Bros., so perhaps there are more franchises here that are for me. For now though, Super Smash Bros. remains my favorite fighting game franchise.

Well, when I was young I used to enjoy a SNES game called: TMNT: Tournament Fighting...this and Super Smash Bros. Melee are my favorite ones.
