While playing Twilight Princess for a group thing outside of ZD, I looked at the sky of Hyrule Field and saw clouds. It hit me that, if it's possible, for Skyward Sword to have differing environmental conditions, at least in the land below (Hyrule?). Things like rain, wind gusts, heat, and others would make the game even more interesting. I wouldn't like for the 1:1 Motion control to be involved with those conditions, because then it'd seem more of a gimmick than it is currently planned.

So, what are your thoughts on conditions such as seasonal changes and the likes? Answer in the poll!

I very much would like this kind of detail in the game. We've had a little bit of a night and day cycle in some games, and at least some rain but not enough. But real weather changes, rain winds, clouds, storms would be a real kick to have. I would love to see a clear sky, and at other times see it overcast. Heat and cold might be a little harder, there have been cold places before, and there had always been a desert. But from aria to aria not sure how that can be implemented so well. Unless it was to do with something seasonal that is.

Some thing seasonal to make it feel like there is a real passage of time would be nice too. Even if it was only story based, not as a game mechanic.

How would the 1:1 motion control play a part in that?
I too would like to know more of what you mean. :/ I can't think with that.

Do you mean environmental conditions as aesthetic factors, like for example randomly having rain every once in a while or some slight snow during real life winter months and the like, or environmental factors that actually affect what is going on in the game world, similar to the effects of the Song of Storms or Wind's Requiem?

I think aesthetic factors would make the scenery much more beautiful and engaging rather than always staring at a static non-changing backdrop that is set in place for a given overworld area, and maybe such factors could even affect Link's movement, such as slowing down his speed when snow is on the ground and limiting visibility in the rain, etc. Make the environment seem more real and immersive. At the very least it adds some variety to the game world conditions that isn't just limited to certain areas of the plot.

I do rather miss the ability to alter the conditions of the environment Song of Storms style or something similar. Maybe if Skyloft had the technology or magic for weather alterations, given how it's up in the clouds and all, we could have some mechanic for environmental control. I'm just throwing wild ideas out now, but I enjoy manipulating the game world so...yeah.

It could be tuned into the wii forcast channel so if it is raining in real life, then in the game it's raining!

I like this, it would bring back memories of Majora's Mask on the 2'nd day, and beating the 2'nd dungeon. If Nintendo decides to do this, I'd be one happy guy as this would be able to present a real challenge unless the npc's aren't affected by the changing weather.

Yeah, that would be awesome too! Imagine if it was thundering and lightning outside and you could see those effects in the game, that would be pretty cool. So yes, I agree that environmental conditions would make the game a lot more interesting.

I love the idea of it! I remember after I beat TP but didn't want to replay the game (I'm just that lazy) I just ran around Hyrule Field and beat up the bokoblins and the rain gave it a cooler feeling. And with the addition of snowing? Hail even? The skies the limit! Speaking of skies, why not even throw in a tornado? Like, you get sucked into a tornado and it takes you to a hidden entrance in Skyloft where they have a mini-dungeon. I would love that oh so much.

I think that would be awesome! But I don't think everyone has the wii forcast channel set up. Or well I don't at least.

I love the idea of the forecast channel thing its pretty awesome, but i'd end up changing my location to some rain forest or someplace up north for constant rain or constant snow (:

That wouldn't work. Some people don't have WiFi connected to their Wii's.

Anyway, environmental conditions could work well. Just like the day/night cycle, some random rains and snow would be fine. Also, i'm sure if there is an ice based place, we'll have the snow stuff.

IDK I'd really like to see weather conditions like in the Great Sea from the Wind Waker.
Puzzles encrypted in the weather would also make a good impression on the game.

I'd love to see some weather effects, like storms or snow if Link is supposed to fly. It'd make the game more challenging, having to dodge lightning or hail or avoid blizzards.
