Considering they've been developing it for the Wii-U this whole time I'd be surprised if it ended up running choppy. If there's one thing Nintendo are good at it's squeezing the most they can out of low demand graphics engines.
I agree the only other game I've seen with a similar leadup has...
That's their own fault though, and it's completely justified. I can't name a single Wii-U title that launched before 2014 that was a major entry in one of Nintendo's flagship series, and even since then I could list them off the fingers of a single hand and have some to spare. If Nintendo can't...
You've deliberately overlooked the point of my post. They're very selective about what they port to VC, especially with popular (ie: some of their best selling) releases not making the cut, but this is a different topic entirely.
I'm not too good at expressing a point clearly/concisely so I...
That's another part of the reason I'm a bit worried. There's a tangible reason for them to do it, but they've hardly released what could be called a full lineup of their main series for the Wii-U. It would just prove what everybody knew in 2012, Nintendo don't care about their non-handheld market.
I think a lot of people are going to upgrade when the Switch releases, but there really isn't a great deal of incentive for Wii-U owners to keep theirs either. Honestly it feels more and more like Nintendo treat their old consoles like they never existed.
I guarantee you they're going to announce they've canceled the Wii-U release and Breath of the Wild will be a standalone Switch game.
Despite the development initially being for the Wii-U, I can't help but feel this is going to be the case. Yooka Laylee made the announcement recently which is...
