    Latest Video Game Purchase

Oh, this isn't at all in my budget. I'll have to make quite a few sacrifices to do this. Like, eat nothing but Ramen on days when my daughter is with her mom. But I know I'm going to regret this forever if I don't get this before scalpers triple the price down the road.

    Latest Video Game Purchase

I pre-ordered the TOTK Switch (and the game) today. I already have a Switch. But I know my five-year-old daughter is going to want to have her own Switch some day, so I might as well get this beautiful limited edition and give my daughter the old one when the time is right. She already loves...

SSHD What's with the blocks on the outer wall of Lanayru Mining Facility?

Hi, I'm trying to 100% Skyward Sword one more time before Tears of the Kingdom comes out, and there's an oddity at the exterior walls of Lanayru Mining Facility. The stone blocks sticking out of the ground level walls are not sticking out equally far. Most of them have the bigger block maybe...

I am honestly surprised that Metroid Prime Remastered does not have Amiibo Support.

The Metroid Prime remaster is almost exclusively a visual enhancement with very few changes and optional new control schemes, otherwise it's the old game. I don't think there was anything to hide behind an Amiibo. I guess they could have given us a Metroid Dread skin, like the Fusion suit in the...

The retrospective on the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition Disc for Gamecube

The Collector's Edition for Gamecube had the two NES Zeldas, the two N64 Zeldas and a short "Retrospective", seen here: I must have watched this a hundred times back when I first got it. While I had played the first five games on the consoles of friends and family members quite a bit, the...

    The Gutters Webcomic

The Gutters by Ryan Sohmer and various artists feature funny commentary on whatever happens in the world of superhero comic books. Since the US edition of Hyrule Historia is released by comic book publisher Dark Horse, Zelda and Link are now fair game for Sohmer as well. Here is what he came up...

Yeah, but the thing is: He doedn't always activate them directly. Sometimes, he strikes them with his sword, sometimes with an arrow, sometimes the beetle drops a bomb on them. Nintendo 3DS Update Now Available

Not a big update, but noteworthy: In Germany (possibly all of Europe), we can download the free Eurosport channel from the 3DS shop. Through spotpass, this channel downloads 3D sport clips. Also, there are now achievements...

    Spoiler German Gamepro's Full Review

They didn't complain about a lack of realism. They complained about bad anti-aliasing and shoddy textures in some places. Stuff that is bad even for the Wii. Stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the art style.

    Spoiler German Gamepro's Full Review

I concur. I loved Arkham Asylum with its mix of Metroid and Splinter Cell, and its faithfulness to the comic books. And Arkham City is pushing the envelope even further. Better graphics, less linearity, a Gotham City full of life... Hype or no hype, the game is fantastic.

Free games. Yes, I've got a few of them myself, but not on the 3DS. And did I mention that they are free? That we don't have to pay for them? Don't complain. Nintendo wasn't forced to do this. They could just as well have given us nothing, and we still wouldn't have a right to complain. That...

If You Could Make a Dungeon, How Would It Work?

Has anyone seen the movie Cube? It had hundreds of cube-shaped rooms, some (but not all) of them filled with gory deathtraps. And a complicated mechanism constantly changed the order of the rooms. In a Zelda Dungeon, that complicated mechanism would be replaced with magic, most of the...

Am I the Only One That Finds This Ironic?

First of all, swords stronger than the Master sword are not ironic. That being said, the Master Sword was initially created for one game: A Link to the Past. That's not exactly true. Nintendo has stated that they currently have no plans to release those titles. That doesn't mean that they won't get shuffled in a year or two from now. Star Fox Adventures

I really liked the game. Sure, it was very linear, but I liked the characters and the world, and the graphics were awesome at the time it was released. Well, it's still not clear what the planet is called. From what we know, Hyrule could be the name of the land, the continent, the planet, or even all three. I guess it boils down to how you interpret the creation myth told by the Deku Tree. Did the Goddesses create just a little island, or did...

Forest Temple from TP = Deku Tree?

Close. When facing several explanations, Occam's Razor suggests picking the one that has the least amount of new assumptions. It doesn't say that the simplest explanation will definitely be the correct one. Four elements (Fire, Water, Earth and Wind) are simpler than 118 elements (Hydrogen...

    Timeline For Beginners

I can't find the link right now, but I'm 100% sure that Aonuma and/or Miyamoto have said that Ocarina of Time was the first game in the timeline before Skyward Sword was developed. That would make OoT the second game in the timeline, not Minish Cap/FS/FSA or any other game.

Nintendo 3DS Price Drop-should We Be Conerned?

No, we don't need to be concerned. If anything, this (combined with the games launching later this year, like Super Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus) will get the 3DS in even more hands. Which means that even more people are likely to buy games, which is where Nintendo makes most of its profit anyway.
