I just had the first appointment of my root canal today and it went really well. Good luck with yours and hopefully it’ll give you the relief you need. I was lucky to not be experiencing pain from my tooth but somehow the nerve inside had died despite there not being any decay.
Found a lump above one of my teeth last night and went to the dentist today to find out what it is about. They did some tests and found that it needs a root canal and I need some antibiotics to get rid of the infection first - which is surprising since I had a dentist checkup only a month ago...
Saw Porter Robinson’s final show on his Nurture Live world tour in Sydney tonight. I was lucky enough to also see him twice previously on this same tour, once in Osaka earlier this year and again in Melbourne earlier this week. He mixes up the set list a bit each time so I could hear some songs...
I saw my first Broadway show in NYC last night (Back to the Future) and it really exceeded my expectations. The production was incredible from the acting, stage settings, transitions, choreography etc.
Congrats!
I got a package in the mail today from our company's Managing Director full of the best looking fresh fruit I've ever seen with a nice thank you note. Time for a fruit salad :D
Was super lucky to get to see this one in Japan and today it was announced with more dates for Australia later this year. Excited to see this again with some friends!
Have been making some great progress on some projects I have been working on at work - it is really nice to see when things go along smoothly and feeling like you made a positive contribution.
I went to a video game bar in Akihabara and met one cool people there. Everyone gets handed a gameboy and a stack of games plus there were a bunch of other retro systems too. When you opened the toilet door it even made the Zelda chest opening sound!
Congratulations and good luck staying away from the smokes!
Today I had a good evening catching up with a friend from one of my previous Japanese classes at a bar I used to frequent which was a lot of fun.
I extended my trip by an extra two weeks to stay in Japan a bit longer since I’m really enjoying my time so far. After three years away it felt like it was going by too quickly.
Thinking about how lucky we are to live in a place where my mum was able to get her brain surgery for free and without having to go into any debt. Otherwise, we'd be in a pretty bad position.
I finally got my results back for the N2 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test I sat in December and I passed! After having passed the next level below that (N3) six months earlier I just went for it and hardly did any specific preparation to feel out my actual ability.
It was very a...
I learned how to solve a Rubik's cube for the first time today. I haven't really given it a serious attempt before and never got around to figuring out how to do it until now.
I received some Enchroma Colour Blind Correction sunglasses for my birthday. The impact isn’t as dramatic as some YouTube videos make out but I love the way they bring out the vibrancy in some colours like red, green, and the sky.
Work is finished for the week and the weekend is here :ezlo:
Still feeling pretty good about how work is going generally. Yesterday we had a half day of work and then a half day team outing eating chicken wings and drinking and today (well on all Fridays) we have "wellbeing Friday" where we...
Second half of the work day today was spent eating chicken wings and drinking at a pub with the tech team. Not bad at all, still loving my work environment.
Feeling pretty happy that Japan is finally opening to tourists again next month. Already planning a trip there for a few weeks in February and potentially will try and find time before then to go over for a short trip too.
It appears that Japan is strongly considering dropping the last of the major travel restrictions very soon so hopefully they will follow through. I am feeling like my trip next Feb will be able to go ahead at this rate.
Finishing work on time and spending the whole afternoon and evening with my family having dinner and celebrating my brother's 18th birthday a few days early (due to mum's upcoming surgery).
I received the results for my first ever attempt at the official Japanese Language Proficiency Test and passed with a fairly decent score.
To be fair I took N3 level only (there are five levels with N5 being the easiest and N1 being the hardest) so it isn't an incredibly difficult level but I...
Finished up work today and now I have two weeks off work. I have a friend from the US visiting and am looking forward to catching up with them and doing some touristy things here in Sydney and surrounds.
I find that my mood is pretty strongly impacted by the weather and for the first time in a while the weather has been consistently great for the last couple of days so I am feeling really good. We've been having nice and sunny days of around 15-19 degrees.
I have only just been working in this new job for two weeks and now found out that I am getting a 4.5% salary raise from the 1st September already. I've already been very happy with the increase over what I was getting in the last job so this is more icing on the cake.
Made a significant deployment at work overnight which went really well and dramatically increased conversion rates, the management team is pretty thrilled with the change. Keen to keep making great improvements and learning more.
This is great to hear! Congrats on making it into something you're passionate about, that's a fantastic achievement.
I'm also really enjoying my new job I have just started this week though it has been quite busy. Looking forward to seeing what I can learn and how I can grow skills more with a...
I don't think I mentioned this here yet because I was unwell but I finally had my university graduation ceremony in person last week (it is probably where I got COVID...). Infections aside I was glad to be able to finally celebrate finishing up my degree in person.
I'm also happy today as I got...
My registration got accepted for an Upper Advanced level Japanese Language course for the next term. I got a look at the subject outline and am really keen to get back into it after there was no class this term.
When a release to production goes smoothly at work it's always a good feeling. Since I am the last check before going live it can be a lot of pressure but I think I'm doing alright.
I'm off work December 25th - January 3rd, my first leave since starting this job at the start of March. Looking forward to relaxing and being over with 2021.
Japanese and South Korean tourists are finally able to visit Australia as of December 1, so I am hoping it won't be too long before we can go the other way.
Friday and Saturday nights I have plans to see friends for the first time in a long time. Really excited to get out of the house finally and get social again.
