The retrospective on the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition Disc for Gamecube

The Collector's Edition for Gamecube had the two NES Zeldas, the two N64 Zeldas and a short "Retrospective", seen here: I must have watched this a hundred times back when I first got it. While I had played the first five games on the consoles of friends and family members quite a bit, the...

    The Gutters Webcomic

The Gutters by Ryan Sohmer and various artists feature funny commentary on whatever happens in the world of superhero comic books. Since the US edition of Hyrule Historia is released by comic book publisher Dark Horse, Zelda and Link are now fair game for Sohmer as well. Here is what he came up...

    Timeshift Stone Paradox

Yeah, but the thing is: He doedn't always activate them directly. Sometimes, he strikes them with his sword, sometimes with an arrow, sometimes the beetle drops a bomb on them. In those cases, shouldn't the beetle or even just the bomb be the only thing that gets transported back? It's not like...

    Nintendo 3DS Update Now Available

Not a big update, but noteworthy: In Germany (possibly all of Europe), we can download the free Eurosport channel from the 3DS shop. Through spotpass, this channel downloads 3D sport clips. Right now, it's nothing but collections of short clips, America's Funniest Homevideo style (car crashes...

    Nintendo 3DS Update Now Available

The update is available here in Europe. I can confirm a Mario Kart 7 puzzle (40 pieces, eight of which cannot be bought with play coins) and a sequel to Find Mii/Streetpass Quest, complete with new hats (I've unlocked a Top Hat, a Yoshi Hat and an Arwing Hat). Also, there are now achievements...

    Spoiler German Gamepro's Full Review

They didn't complain about a lack of realism. They complained about bad anti-aliasing and shoddy textures in some places. Stuff that is bad even for the Wii. Stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the art style.

    Spoiler German Gamepro's Full Review

I concur. I loved Arkham Asylum with its mix of Metroid and Splinter Cell, and its faithfulness to the comic books. And Arkham City is pushing the envelope even further. Better graphics, less linearity, a Gotham City full of life... Hype or no hype, the game is fantastic.

    Loftwings Are Cuccos

Time doesn't matter when magic is involved. There's no reason to assume that magic is involved this time around, however. And if it's just natural evolution, what evolutionary advantage would loftwings gain from becoming cuccos?

5.: Paprika. Possibly the greatest movie by the late, great visionary director Satoshi Kon (Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers). This adaptation of the novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui is an anime and uses all of the strengths of that medium. This couldn't have worked as a...

3DS Ambassador Games Are Now Available!

Free games. Yes, I've got a few of them myself, but not on the 3DS. And did I mention that they are free? That we don't have to pay for them? Don't complain. Nintendo wasn't forced to do this. They could just as well have given us nothing, and we still wouldn't have a right to complain. That...

There is no "may or may not be". This is not a trailer, much less one for one specific game. Ocarina of Time Convince Me

If you made it that far before you quit, you probably had a lot of fun with the game. Solving sidequests, collecting items, heart pieces and skulltulas, defeating bosses, following the plot. The rest of the game is exactly that. If the water temple is all that prevented you from continuing the...

If You Could Make a Dungeon, How Would It Work?

Has anyone seen the movie Cube? It had hundreds of cube-shaped rooms, some (but not all) of them filled with gory deathtraps. And a complicated mechanism constantly changed the order of the rooms. In a Zelda Dungeon, that complicated mechanism would be replaced with magic, most of the...

Am I the Only One That Finds This Ironic?

First of all, swords stronger than the Master sword are not ironic. That being said, the Master Sword was initially created for one game: A Link to the Past. Back when they made that game, there were no plans for a sequel, much less for the Master Sword to appear in one. Which is evident when...

    Any Recommendations For The EShop?

That's not exactly true. Nintendo has stated that they currently have no plans to release those titles. That doesn't mean that they won't get shuffled in a year or two from now. What Game Consoles Do(did) You Have

I've had an Atari 800 XL and an Atari ST. I still have a Sega Mega Drive (AKA Genesis), a Nintendo Gameboy (the classic gray brick), a Gameboy Advance, a Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation 2, a Wii, a DS lite and a 3DS. I'll most likely get an Xbox 360 in December and a PS3 in 2012.

    Star Fox Adventures

I really liked the game. Sure, it was very linear, but I liked the characters and the world, and the graphics were awesome at the time it was released. I wish it had been a bigger success, opening the door for more Zelda-like Action Adventures. I mean, we had Neutopia I and II on the Turbografx...

Labrynna and Holodrum in Correlation to Hyrule (im Sorry I Cant Spell)

Well, it's still not clear what the planet is called. From what we know, Hyrule could be the name of the land, the continent, the planet, or even all three. I guess it boils down to how you interpret the creation myth told by the Deku Tree. Did the Goddesses create just a little island, or did...

Forest Temple from TP = Deku Tree?

Close. When facing several explanations, Occam's Razor suggests picking the one that has the least amount of new assumptions. It doesn't say that the simplest explanation will definitely be the correct one. Four elements (Fire, Water, Earth and Wind) are simpler than 118 elements (Hydrogen...

Third wish: No idea yet, but the combined wisdom and modesty from...

    Timeline For Beginners

I can't find the link right now, but I'm 100% sure that Aonuma and/or Miyamoto have said that Ocarina of Time was the first game in the timeline before Skyward Sword was developed. That would make OoT the second game in the timeline, not Minish Cap/FS/FSA or any other game.

Nintendo 3DS Price Drop-should We Be Conerned?

No, we don't need to be concerned. If anything, this (combined with the games launching later this year, like Super Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus) will get the 3DS in even more hands. Which means that even more people are likely to buy games, which is where Nintendo makes most of its profit anyway.

3DS Price Drops to $169.99, New "Ambassador" Program for Those That Already Own One

Poe Hunter's Thougts on the Split Timeline Theory

While we don't have a Seal War game, there are other pieces of evidence pointing to LttP happening somewhen after TP. Like the Master Sword pedestal. In OoT, the pedestal is in the Temple of Time. In TP, centuries later, it's in the plantcovered ruins of the temple, surrounded by wood. In LttP...
