Nintendo Switch News and Discussion Thread

The Wii U actually had reasonably good launch day sales, which in hindsight is a bit surprising. But as Lozjam said, Nintendo don't need to worry too much about launch sales because their fanbase is particularly devoted. I think if the Wii U showed us anything with regards to Nintendo as a...

Nintendo Switch News and Discussion Thread

Personally I stopped using Miiverse completely after about a year. It was a fun, classically Nintendo way of doing things, but ultimately I think integrating existing social media networks will be much more versatile and accessible for most people. I'm kind of sadder to see streetpass go. While...

That One Film That Everyone Hated But You Loved

Michael Bay movies is a category of it's own! I personally enjoyed Pain and Gain, really mindless fun. Although it was perhaps not a sensible way to treat a true story...

    What has become of Metroid?

I agree with this. If Metroid was such an unpopular IP that Nintendo wouldn't bother devoting time to it in order to focus on safer series' then why tack on the Metroid brand to a game that doesn't particularly need it? Because they know it will still help it sell. The issue is whether it is...

That One Film That Everyone Hated But You Loved

Yeah loved Interstellar too. I think the problem a lot of the time was that if you judge it objectively then you could say that some of the writing was a bit cumbersome and awkward, some of the acting wasn't too engaging (although Matthew McConaughey was great), and the ending was a bit hammy...

Which Book Are You Currently Reading?

Wow, didn't even know that was a book. Absolutely loved the film, thought it was one of the my favourites of this decade so far so I'll have to check that out.

Breath of the Wild Returning areas

Yeah exactly. I suppose it's all about the balance of making the overworld epic without being tiresome. Something somewhat like what I was thinking for Breath of the Wild with Loftwings (which of course is very unlikely) is more taking inspiration from the Skells in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Or in...

Breath of the Wild Returning areas

I see what you mean, but there'll almost definitely still be some kind of teleportation in the game, so Loftwings would be a form for that to take. But you're right, if they were in the game it they would have to take a pretty central role, and that could ruin the experience of exploring.

Breath of the Wild Returning areas

Yeah, islands in the sky are sort of a recurring thing. I reckon there's a really good chance that the flying thing in the distance is a floating region you can visit. A Skyloft style area would be cool, even though as you say actually having Skyloft appear seems very unlikely. What about how...

Which Book Are You Currently Reading?

Ahh you still have a way to go, but just be glad you're not one of us who's been waiting for Winds of Winter for AGES now! I'm reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin at the moment. Trippy 70s (I think) sci-fi, has themes of science, politics, sexuality and morality. Would recommend

Breath of the Wild Returning areas

If we could have areas that resemble the islands of Wind Waker then I'm hoping we could also see the Isle of Frost from Phantom Hourglass. It's a bit further away in the World of the Ocean King but I just want to see a return of the Anouki. Sarcastic penguins with antlers, has to be the greatest...
