For something you can plow through I'd recommend Saya no Uta. It's about 8 hours to do it all. Longer one that's good but not too long, is Sharin no Kuni, and G Senjou no Maou. Both made by the same company and medium length games. Best VN ever IMO is the Muv-Luv trilogy. The first one is slow...

you know you are 100% town. never ever ever ever sacrifice yourself, who is 100% town, for someone who isn't 100% town. so only ever sac yourself for relative certainties, like a claimed role that has proven themselves or is widely believed to be that role. idc about power roles. dont do it.
