That would prove to be a...decent plot twist, at best, but it would also instantly be chock-full of holes. Imagine the rave it'll get upon showcase, then months downt he line everyone will be complaining! Would said paternal ancestor also be a reincarnation of Demise? You see where this is going, right?

Ganondorf's mother has an affair with the King because he is into nomadic Gerudo women which leads to Zelda getting born. Now Zelda has a small part of her which is a reincarnation of Demise which means that Link has a small part of himself that wants to destroy her but his romantic feelings for her suppress those urges. Ganondorf uses these connections between the trio to aid his evil master plan in reigning terror over Hyrule.

Seems like a complicated enough dramatic story to me, there is a love-hate relationship there and interesting plot that could be expanded upon!

LOL wow...yes, it's an interesting plot twist, but it wouldnt work. If the king had an affair with a gerudo, the result wouldnt be Zelda, it would be another random gerudo sired by a hylian. That gerudo likely wouldn't actually stay at castle town, and even if she did, the baby wouldnt be raised as a princess. Even if it was the king's first kid...heir to the throne = both parents are royals, not just one.

Ganondorf would still have something to work with though, the king fathers his sibling, he can try to become a noble...

I don't care how complicated that is, it sounds freaking awesome and I'd love for Nintendo to implement that kind of story. Imagine - Ganondorf and Zelda being distant siblings and Link swornt o destroy every trace of Ganondorf alive. That's deep :? right there, ya dig?

VERY unlikely, but it'd be SUCH a cool story idea!

If said affair were to happen, it'd be unlikely that the king would go out of his way to get with a woman from another land. It'd probably be some sort of setting where the Royal Family and the Gerudo have established a peace treaty (kinda like 'Dorf swearing peace to the king in OoT) and are close, much like Darunia and the King being sworn brothers. So, aside from the very cool idea of Link being torn between destroying evil and destroying the girl he loves/Hyrule's future monarchy, there'd be a lot of political struggle and deceit and all that.

But that's just ONE possibility. Really, there are so many. It'd just have to be done in a way that'd be believable for established Zelda lore.

Just because Zelda in this case would have a bit of the "blood of Demise" in her doesn't necessarily mean anything if she lacks Demise's spirit. Perhaps, like most people, Zelda would simply be a mix of good and evil whose horrible ancestors have no bearing on the person she is. A lot of us have dubious family lines and for some of us, downright rotten genes / genetically-traceable disorders, yet it doesn't really have much bearinng upon how we were raised or the people we choose to be.

Perhaps Zelda's own spirit is enough to overcome the "fragement of Demise" that is in her bloodline.

If Nintendo did a story along those lines (let's just pretend they'd put as much thought into it as their fanfiction writing fans instead of just going with the usual semi-blank characters and open worlds for gameplay purposes like they actually do)... if they really storied it up, the whole "lesson" of the story could be that "You are not your past or your bloodline. You choose your own fate."

No need for Link to destroy Zelda if she is actually a good person and has overcome her ancestry.

But that's boring. The whole "everyone bar the bad guy is happy" has been done in Zelda...yes it's the foundation, but it's a story foundation - stories need variance! :P

Well it could go a lot of different ways here.

The king's love affair with the Gerudo queen w/e (let's go wild here) could actually start a spark between the two factions that eventually turns into to a huge fire because the King kept the baby(Zelda)?
Maybe the King defects to the Gerudo tribe for love, leaving the Hylians in a deep crisis and agony and raises Zelda as a brainwashed Gerudo eventually to aid in Ganondorf's plan in taking over Hyrule, after some time the King regrets it and seeks out Link's help?
Why not have the love affair be the reason behind a peace treaty between the Gerudo and Hylians, then when the truth gets out both the Gerudo queen and King of Hyrule get hunted out of their kingdoms creating horrible anarchy in the process with some maniac rising to power (Ganondorf)?

gotta say, this thread wasn't that serious from the beginning but this is actually turning out to be a quite interesting idea. Have always wanted more emphasis on the politics in Zelda anyways and something like this might just be the right thing! :xd:

So you're saying Zelda's gerudo mother decides to give her to her hylian father? Hmm. While the whole thing is very intriguing, still...would the hylians even accept her as a princess, realistically? They'd probably just treat her as something that's not even supposed to exist, and threaten to dethrone the king unless he marries a hylian noble and produces a "real" heir.

We would still have a drama filled story with that though. Maybe Zelda grows up, thinking she's a princess, but the only ones who treat her like one are the king and maybe a few of his closest advisors. She finds out the truth somehow and decides to run away to meet her mother. Ganondorf finds out he has a half sister among the hylians. Etc...
