The folks at MoDojo have decided to take another look at the possibilities of Majora’s Mask making an appearance on the 3DS. In this article they have listed five major reasons why it would be a successful move.

For many gamers, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is hands down the best entry in the long-standing series, but plenty also appreciate one of the franchise’s biggest oddballs, Majora’s Mask.
Released on Nintendo 64 in 2000, this quirky yet satisfying quest tasked players with preventing a strange moon from crashing into the world, while at the same time harnessing the powers of different masks. Bizarre, yes. One heck of a fun time? Absolutely. With this in mind, it appears Nintendo may give The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask the 3DS treatment, as it did for Ocarina. In fact, producer Eiji Aonuma admits to discussing the matter to Zelda creator, Shigeru Miyamoto.

That said, we think porting this memorable title to the system would be a great idea.

The lists of reasons given for an update are largely common sense when looking at them. The first reason they gave was the amazing sales the remake of Ocarina of Time produced. It sold over one million copies making it the most successful 3DS game so far. The second reason states that there are millions of fans of Majora’s Mask who would love to have a chance at playing a remake. The very next reason goes on to say that there are in fact millions that have not played the game at all. Due to the late release date many no longer had any interest in the N64 console. Also many more current fans might not have been born yet when the game was originally released. The next reason was that it would definitely help boost the still thin game selection of the 3DS. Another strong first party game would help out, even a remake of an older game. And of course the final reason, we get to see even more commercials starring Robin Williams and his daughter Zelda.

I have seen many heated debates both for and against creating a port f Majora’s Mask for the 3DS. Some like to say that it is largely unnecessary because they could always add it to the Virtual Console and have it available for download then work on future games. While others love the idea of having a graphics and gameplay update to what may be their favorite title in the series. However it is true that Nintendo could leave a remake of Majora’s Mask to Grezzo, the studio that brought us Ocarina of Time 3D, while they continue to work on other future Zelda games. I remain optimistic of all decisions that allow for another Zelda title on any console. True I would also love to play Majora’s Mask again in 3D with updated graphics just as I would love to play an all new game as well. It is generally hard for me to create such a strong opinion against having another Zelda title in my hands which I think is why I am in full agreement with this article.

So what do you think? Do you think their points are valid? Would you like to see Majora’s Mask on 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.
