Many Nintendo fans are building up excitement for the finals of the Nintendo World Championships 2015 on June 14th. Nintendo announced last week that The Legend of Zelda would be part of the final competition, and fans were left to speculate how finalists would compete within the game. Well today, Nintendo’s announced via Twitter that finalists will be competing in a speedrun of the NES classic’s first dungeon.
The finals of the Nintendo World Championships 2015 will be live streamed on June 14th, as eight finalists will compete in different classic games. Nintendo explained today the part The Legend of Zelda will be play in this competition:
“Players will be challenged to speedrun from the beginning of the game to the end of the first dungeon. The first player to raise the Triforce piece is the winner!”
I have to say that it’s rather exciting to see a speedrun playing such a major role in the World Championships. Hopefully one of the eight competitors is familiar with The Legend of Zelda speedrunning strats; screen scrolling, anyone? In any case, the finals should be fun event to watch.
The Nintendo World Championships 2015 will be live streamed on Nintendo’s E3 website, YouTube, and Twitch. The event is set to begin on June 14th at 3 p.m. Pacific.
