Some people say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. This is what Skydevilpalm, the developers of the new dungeon creation game Quest Master, have likely been expecting since their game was revealed over a year ago. And, it looks like it finally happened, as they posted on X that content builder madsniper77 has recreated the entire overworld from the original The Legend of Zelda.

Considering Quest Master has been in early access since the second half of last year, it’s a tad surprising that it took this long to have a full-blown Zelda recreation on this scale. However, Skydevilpalm themselves confirms in the same thread that multiple other dungeons from the series have already been brought to life in their title, such as Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.
Haha!
We have plenty of dungeon recreations from Minish cap, A link to the past, the oracle games, links awakening, the original NES one, even Ocarina of Time! We are impressed how well the 3D dungeons translate to 2D— Quest Master (@PlayQuestMaster) June 16, 2024
As for madsniper77, the overworld to the NES The Legend of Zelda isn’t the only iconic landmark they’ve recreated from the franchise in Quest Master. Other notable creations include the Shadow Temple from Ocarina of Time and the Sandship from Skyward Sword. Their dungeon creations, as well as other Zelda-inspired ones for the game, can be found on the title’s official Mod.io profile page.
The history of Zelda-inspired dungeon creators has had its ups and downs over the years, so it’s nice to see fans like Skydevilpalm keeping the spirit alive. Even though series producer Eiji Aonuma is still shooting down the dreams for an official Zelda dungeon creator, it’s good to know that admirers of the idea aren’t going to give up so easily.
Quest Master is currently available via early access on Steam, while a full release is planned for PC and Nintendo Switch at a later date.
