Fan Music Spotlight: The Legend of Zelda Theme in 10 Musical Styles

Hello and welcome to a brand new feature here at ZI: the Fan Music Spotlight! In this Wednesday Weekly Feature, we’ll be showcasing a YouTube musician showcasing their abilities through a Zelda-related composition or cover. This week, we begin with a guitarist who decided to show the rest of us the possibilities for the Zelda series’ main theme when played in ten (really, eleven) different styles. Suffice to say, I’m really hoping to see some of these styles appear in actual games, as the rock remixes did in Hyrule Warriors.

Benjamin Belmonte, more commonly known as “huskybythegeek”, is a rock guitarist who does covers of tunes from various video game franchises. Among the titles he’s addressed are Final Fantasy 14, Phoenix Wright, Megaman Zero 3, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, and Sonic Adventure 2 (with friends!). His most recent remix, based on the main theme of The Legend of Zelda, takes us not only through various sub-genres of rock, but even through Jazz and Bossa Nova, both of which I particularly enjoyed.
