We recently got into contact with Redditor Meitachi, who has created a stunning and detailed replica of Zelda’s Gleaming Rapier. You may be surprised at what materials Meitachi used, as the Redditor explained that using cheaper and easy-to-find materials was the goal. Foam board was used for the shape and simple craft foam was used to fill in the details. The blade is folded poster paper with a stick through the middle and the jewels used were plain plastic jewels that can be found in various craft sets. Obviously a lot of glue and paint were used as well.

As far as the difficulty in making this replica, Meitachi had this to say:

I’ve always enjoyed recreating props for cosplays and particularly like to tackle challenging designs as it forces me to think of how I could translate it into reality. At my first glance, Zelda’s Gleaming Rapier seemed to have a larger than normal crossbar and feathered guard. But it actually has some crazy 3D designs that made drafting my initial designs for it a challenge. If anyone happens to be attending Anime Expo 2015, come say hi! I’m friendly, I promise.

Do you think Meitachi did a good job recreating Zelda’s Gleaming Rapier? We at Zelda Informer think she did a marvelous job! You can view full sized high quality images in the gallery below. Make sure to leave your thoughts about this replica in the comments!
