This year’s remake of Link’s Awakening has reminded many of us of just how much we appreciate Zelda‘s first handheld adventure. After grabbing Link’s sword on Koholint Island’s shoreline, the familiar Zelda Overworld theme kicks in (albeit sounding a bit different), and with it, comes the familiar sense of adventure. That sensation has been reawakened within the fanbase, as we can see with a new metal cover of the game’s Overworld theme.

This new cover, performed by Jules Conroy (a.k.a FamilyJules), does not contain the Overworld theme alone. FamilyJules also adds a snippet of “Ballad Of The Wind Fish”, as well as a small piece of the Hyrule Field theme from Ocarina of Time. In regards to these additions, the musician has stated that “it just felt right for some reason,” and you know what? I couldn’t agree more! These tunes fit in nicely with the Overworld theme and give the entire piece a whole new dimension. It is nice to experience the song again in a slightly different way; hearing this cover has made me appreciate Link’s Awakening even more.

FamilyJules has covered many Zelda tracks over the years and even contributed to the soundtrack of Cadence of Hyrule. It’s no wonder he succeeded in making this cover amazing.
