A publication known for their connection to inside sources within Nintendo, Eurogamer, is back with another report. This time it is about a mini Super Nintendo Entertainment System. After the discontinuation the NES Classic Edition, some speculate this new SNES Classic Edition may be the reason why the company decided to halt production of the system.

“Nintendo’s plans for SNES mini are also a major reason why last year’s NES mini did not see a reprieve from discontinuation, Eurogamer understands, despite the latter’s continued popularity and sell-out status.” — Tom Phillips of Eurogamer

Supposedly slated to launch “in time for Christmas” this year, development of the product is apparently happening at this moment in time. What are your thoughts on this rumor? Would you like to play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on a mini SNES? Let us know what you think in the comments.
