Eurogamer is Reporting Nintendo Will Launch a Mini SNES This Year

A publication known for their connection to inside sources within Nintendo, Eurogamer, is back with another report. This time it is about a mini Super Nintendo Entertainment System. After the discontinuation the NES Classic Edition, some speculate this new SNES Classic Edition may be the reason why the company decided to halt production of the system.
“Nintendo’s plans for SNES mini are also a major reason why last year’s NES mini did not see a reprieve from discontinuation, Eurogamer understands, despite the latter’s continued popularity and sell-out status.” — Tom Phillips of Eurogamer
