Dungeons have been a critical focal point in every Zelda game that they appear in. These sites may house powerful artifacts, hold trials for the hero, or just be flat out interesting locales to explore. While personally I prefer more open-ended dungeons like Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule Castle, popular opinion favors the mixture of exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving that traditional dungeons hold.

Last January Gooey’s Dungeon Dive, hosted by Zelda Dungeon’s YouTube Coordinator Gooey Fame, took a close look at the dungeons of the fourth Zelda game Link’s Awakening. Gooey’s goal is to cover every dungeon in the Zelda series; quite the daunting task. The Dungeon Dive has now entered its fifth season, and this one promises to be a whopper. Zelda game number five, Ocarina of Time, marks the series’ entry into the third dimension. This leap in technology drastically affected how perspective and space could be used in puzzle-crafting.

As in the game, the season’s first episode begins with the Inside of the Deku Tree. Particularly in the 3DS port, the Deku Tree’s bowels are vibrant and atmospheric. The dungeon does a good job of introducing the main mechanics that Link will use for the rest of the adventure.

But what did you think? Does Ocarina of Time hold any of your favorite dungeons? Do you prefer the 3DS port? Let us know in the comments below.
