I know it’s going to be hard to believe, but no Zelda game is perfect. Some of the best titles in the franchise like Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker have their issues. Even the Link’s Awakening remake has its fair share of problems, like the oft-reported frame rate issues for example.

The folks over at Digital Foundry have decided to take a closer look at this issue in an extensive analysis on the game. According to the team, it appears that the game will dip in frames when doing something as simple as talking to someone indoors or heading outside. Overclocking the Switch appears to solve the problem somewhat, but the frame rate still dips frequently.

However, when Digital Foundry ran the game in Portable Mode custom clocked with the Docked Mode’s processing power, it runs smoothly. One theory Digital Foundry has is that the frame rate problems could possibly be due to the game dynamically generating different parts of the map. They go into a much deeper analysis in the video, but suffice to say, Link’s Awakening has some problems it needs to work out.

What do you think of this news?  Have you noticed the frame rate issues Link’s Awakening has? Let us know in the comments below.
