The fire crackled and sputtered, fighting to stay alive. Link knew he was no good at making fires; he’d been lucky to even get this miniscule flame going. Finally giving in, Link huddled up and watched it struggle.

Night had fallen, but he possessed no desire to sleep. His thoughts and emotions were too conflicting to allow any rest. Earlier, he had finally acquired the final pendant and obtained the Master Sword, but when he’d arrived to save Zelda and defeat Agahnim… he’d been too late…

His gaze dropped to his pouch. Desperate for a distraction, he began rummaging through it, withdrawing various items: his Boomerang, the Moon Pearl, an empty bottle – then his fingers closed around an unfamiliar rectangular object.

Holding it up to the dying firelight, the silhouette of a faint green book came into view. The Book of Mudora. Link vaguely remembered using it to decipher the ancient language. Beyond that, though, he had no idea what secrets it concealed.

Curious, Link opened the book to a random page and pulled out his Lamp, squinting to read the shadowed words. His eyes landed on the header: “Skyloft”.

“Before Hylia surrendered her divinity, she created the floating island known as Skyloft.

“Skyloft was as lively as the Surface, bustling with its own unique creatures and traditions. Its inhabitants spent numerous generations confined to their realm above the clouds; over the years, most of them forgot about the existence of the Surface.”

Link continued to read, fascinated by the legend of this floating city and the first Hero: how he’d descended from Skyloft wielding the Goddess Sword to save his friend, forging the legendary Master Sword and defeating the Demon King.

“Once the Surface was safe, the Skyloftians abandoned their home, and they established the first kingdom beneath the clouds. In honor of their goddess, they named the land–”

The page was abruptly cast into darkness as the last of his magic drained and extinguished the Lamp. It didn’t matter: Link had seen the last word.

“Hyrule?”

Excitement coursed through him. This meant his kingdom had originated in the sky! His ancestors might have lived there! And apparently, the Master Sword came from Skyloft, too…

He glanced at the sword, suddenly recalling the passage that mentioned the spirit who aided the Hero. Since the Goddess Sword became the Master Sword, did that mean…?

Taking a deep breath, he whispered tentatively, “Um… sword spirit? Are you there?”

He waited.

Silence.

Sighing, he shut the Book of Mudora and lay down on his back, dismally gazing at the darkened sky. Of course. All those stories were just that: stories. Myths. Legends. Skyloft had never existed.

Feeling rather foolish for believing the tale in the first place, he closed his eyes. Well, at least the book had taken his mind off of the day’s events. Maybe he could finally sleep…

That night, he dreamed of flying around a radiant town on a red bird, with a golden-haired girl at his side..

Then we have the latest Random Drawing Competition hosted by Random Person. The theme for this was the Zelda series with a sub theme of Zelda Meets Disney. ENA-three gained the most votes with his picture showing a meeting between Peter Pan and Link using his hoverboots.
