Today, Nintendo released their last Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase of 2020, and there were a lot of great reveals throughout the entire roughly 20 minute Direct. They ended the Direct with a brand new trailer for the upcoming Breath of the Wild prequel, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. We even learned that the Divine Beasts will be playable!

The biggest news announced in the trailer, however, is the fact that they are releasing a demo of the game that is available for download… TODAY. That’s right, you can download the demo right now and experience the latest story in the Zelda series. The demo lets you play the first chapter of that game, and, if you buy the game digitally, you can transfer your save data to the full game so that you don’t lose your progress. Unfortunately, it looks like if you purchase the physical version of the game, that save data doesn’t transfer — though this is just based on how the demo works for Pikmin 3, so this could change as more information is released.

The fact that we get to dive back into the world created in Breath of the Wild even earlier than we expected is very exciting, although it didn’t entirely catch us by surprise. Nintendo of Korea mistakenly posted about the upcoming trailer and demo on October 27th and then immediately took it down, but not before Zelda fans noticed and starting sharing the story like wildfire on Twitter.

What do you think? Will you download the demo? The hype train for Age of Calamity is going full speed ahead, and November 20th honestly can’t get here soon enough!
