Hyrule Warriors was an amazingly fun, yet simple spin off for the Zelda series. It featured large, epic battles, a decent, albeit barebones story and tons of side content to keep you entertained for hours.

Recently, due to the overwhelming hype surrounding Age of Calamity, I decided to dust off my copy of Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and once again save Hyrule, 3000 minions at a time. After spending several grueling hours in the various adventure maps, it was once again time to tackle the story mode. Roughly a quarter of the way through, I encountered the first Linkle story mission, which I had completely forgotten about.

Linkle was a rather divisive character, but a fun addition to a fun game. Since it was considered non-canon it was easy to add her to the story in her own little side adventure. Although her segments were short and rather disconnected, it was fun seeing the story play out from a different perspective.

So, going forward, does Linkle still have a place in the upcoming Hyrule Warriors installment?  The next title will be decidedly more canon, and directly relate to Breath of the Wild, so it might be tough to incorporate her on a story level. There could still be an opportunity in that regard though, as it would be easy to include her as a side character from the past. A different option could be to just include her own, separate side story again, or have her feature in a new mode, or even just as a playable character for adventure maps.

It all comes down to whether she deserves a spot. Do the fans want her back, and could it even make sense? Linkle didn’t make a huge splash for me, but I wouldn’t mind having her come back, possibly in a larger role.

What do you guys think? Will Linkle return? Could she return? And do we even want her to? Let us know in the comments below!
