ReDeads. They’ve been present in just about every 3D Zelda title, to varying degrees of creepiness. One scream is all it takes to petrify both Link and the player, but they were noticeably absent in Breath of the Wild. In fact, there was a lack of any creepy area in the game (if you don’t count the whole map as being creepy). This got me thinking, where could Nintendo take ReDeads next?

Of course, it all depends heavily on the art style of the next title. We could see a more cartoon version of the enemy, such as from The Wind Waker, or perhaps a return to the dark and dingy ReDeads from Twilight Princess, who would have been by far the scariest enemies in the whole game if that same dungeon hadn’t been hiding a Ghost Demon and a Dragon Skeleton.

But let’s pretend, for a moment, that we’ve taken the reigns of the Zelda series, and the art style is in our hands. Would you go down the hyper realistic route and detail every strand on every bandage wrapped around their bodies? Or perhaps you’d go down another route entirely? What about VR, feeling their breath send shivers down your spine as you freeze on the spot?

What are your thoughts? How would you design ReDeads in future titles? Do any of the ideas above spark any lightbulb moments? Let us know in the comments below!
