It’s not a well-kept secret that one of the hottest games of the year right now is Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and it’s not without reason. The game is without question a masterpiece in tactical combat, story development, and character interaction. But that last one is perhaps the most fulfilling of any Fire Emblem game.

The question today though, is how or what would this character bonding aspect look like in a Zelda game? From accomplishing side-quests to boost support stats, to making game altering decisions that raise or lower your support with others, this mechanic could be a ton of fun in a Zelda game.

Imagine having to do a variety of tasks for somebody in Clocktown before the three days were up, but also have to meet specific criteria in how you speak with them. Perhaps because of the three-day cycle in Majora’s Mask, you could learn how to speak with them over time and obtain better results. Or in Breath of the Wild, it could be with any of the number of travelers that find themselves being attacked constantly. Each time you rush to their aid, they could reward you with something more and more valuable. This could even develop into actual character arcs for these people. This would also open the door for the countless fan-shippings of Link and [insert character here]. By speaking with certain main characters in a title, Link could grow that support to the prized level where marriage between them becomes reality.

What do you think though? Would you like to see a support system, like the one in Fire Emblem, between characters? What game(s) would it work best with do you think? Who would you S-Rank Link with? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or chat about it over in our Discord!
