Sprinkled throughout Breath of the Wild‘s expansive world are fascinating bits of lore and world building that help develop the different races and cultures. Much of the lore helps shape how traditions were born or establishes loyalty to a deity or guardian. I enjoy all of the lore that the game includes, and there’s an especially interesting bit of world building that I wish was incorporated into the culture and lifestyle of one of the races.

One of my favorite areas to explore was East Gerudo Ruins hidden within the Gerudo Desert that revealed seven massive statues called the Seven Heroines. The game doesn’t offer much information on these statues or the forgotten Eighth Heroine other than being worshiped by the Gerudo people and were once sought out for bestowing gifts of spirit, flight, and so on. Other than that though, the statues don’t seem to have a major impact on the Gerudo way of life or fighting prowess. I would have liked to see more of a connection made between them–did the Seven Heroines once protect the Gerudo? Were the statues inspired by historical figures in Gerudo history? It would be cool if some of the Gerudo still journey to the statues to be gifted with unique skills that give them an edge in combat or improve their quality of life. What do you think? Did you like the Seven Heroines lore in Breath of the Wild, and would you have liked to see a clear connection to Gerudo way of life? Let us know in the comments!
