There have been many complaints that the breakable weapons in Breath of the Wild were a bit uncool. I’ll admit, it did get annoying having my sword break in the middle of a boss fight, but it seemed like breakable weapons just fit with the game’s theme. Breakable weapons fit the whole “out in the wild” shtick that Breath of the Wild was going for. If breakable weapons were taken away from he sequel, I think that the “wild” aspect of the game would feel a little less wild. I would like to offer a comprise though.

Breakable weapons became extremely inconvenient really early in the game, and they are even more inconvenient in Master Mode. After a while I started to hate this mechanic, but I understand that it fits the build of the game. If breakable weapons were to be taken away in the sequel, I think it would take something away. A great compromise that I think would satisfy the gamer’s need for sturdier weapons would be being able to repair them. As Hyrule rebuilds after the Calamity, I could totally see blacksmith shops opening/reopening. It would be a great place for Link to take a weapon he’s found and have it fixed up! For a price, of course. That weapon could still potentially break over time, but having a village to repair things in would certainly be nice. Even being able to craft some rudimentary weapons in the wild in some way would be a nice welcome to breakable weapons.

What do you think? Do you want breakable weapons to be abandoned in Breath of the Wild 2, or would you like to see the mechanic modified? Sound off in the comments below!
