Daily Debate: Would Guardians and Divine Beasts Outmatch Modern Military Machinery?

The Guardians of Breath of the Wild are some of the strongest enemies in the franchise yet. Even more powerful are the Divine Beasts, each able to rival the Calamity itself. While Link may be able to take on these opponents, today I want to explore a different kind of match up.

What would happen if these machines were put into conflict with the real world military? Let’s say that one day, Calamity Ganon gets tired of waiting to take over Hyrule and ships all his Guardians and corrupted Divine Beasts over to conquer Earth instead. Would modern military have a chance against these machines?

In my opinion, Calamity Ganon’s forces are inherently stronger. In Age of Calamity we get a glimpse into the real offensive force of the Divine Beasts. Spoiler alert: they’re insanely powerful, with many kinds of lasers to explode in many different ways. There are also a lot of Guardians and the Blood Moon to regenerate fallen troops, giving Calamity Ganon a possible edge in numbers.

However, modern real world military is much more elaborate and strategic than Ganon’s forces. Modern military can strategically coordinate a wide range of units into a unified attack from land, sea, and air. With strategic support from behind the lines, the military would also be able to adapt and create new strategy to challenge the machines.

In the end, this hypothetical war of the worlds comes down to who you ask. To me, I think ultimately the ingenuity of modern military strategists would overcome the onslaught of Calamity Ganon’s berserkers. What do you think? Let us know down below!
