Daily Debate: Will You Be at All Disappointed if Netflix Doesn’t Release a Zelda Series?

It doesn’t feel like all too long ago that The Wall Street Journal reported Nintendo partnering with Netflix to produce a live-action Zelda series. Amongst a whirlwind of reactions, speculations, and rumors, Satoru Iwata finally commented on the proposed series by stating that “the article in question is not based on correct information.” While not a complete confirmation that the series isn’t in production, the statement means that whatever comes of this supposed deal won’t be what was initially expected. Whatever the outcome, we want to know how you will feel if the series never sees the light of day.
From the reaction we saw to the initial report, it was obvious many fans were not on board with a Game of Thrones-like Zelda series. Many considered the tone, style, and nature of the Zelda series and expressed doubt that the classic Nintendo series could not be properly translated into a television series. The trademark exploration and isolation of Zelda would be too odd for a plot-heavy show; the overly political or dramatic plots of Game of Thrones (and the like) would seem out of place in a Zelda story. For many, a Netflix series would turn out to be disastrous for the Zelda series and I’d imagine many will be relieved if the series is never released.
