We’ve seen the trailer, we’ve watched and read through more theories than we care to admit, but one question has been buzzing in my brain for awhile. Will the style of art in promotional materials for Breath of the Wild 2 be different? I was flipping through Creating a Champion the other night and was just in awe all over again at the beautiful promotional art that Breath of the Wild published. If you flip through Art & Artifacts you can see that every Zelda game has a distinct style. Asking “will the art style be different” may seem like a silly question, but I don’t think it is. For a series that seems to pride itself on its style I’d imagine it would be important.

I don’t think we’ll see any drastic changes to the art in Breath of the Wild 2. I think they will keep with the same promotional style because it works, and it’s one less thing for artists and developers to work on.  I think that we will see some character style changes, an obvious one being a short haired Zelda, and I also think that we’ll be seeing less of a ruinous style of Hyrule. I think we’ll see a style more towards renewal. I would hope that promotional materials might reflect that too, but still keep that very painterly style. I think we’ll see some new elements that will only bolster the beauty of what Breath of the Wild set up originally. I’m very excited for new things to start coming out over the next few months. I always get excited when promotional images are released!

What do you think? Will we see an art style change in Breath of the Wild 2? Sound off in the comments below.
