Voice acting in Zelda has always been a divisive and somewhat controversial topic. Many, if not most fans waver between asking what voices could honestly do the characters justice, and why voice acting would even be necessary in the first place.

Breath of the Wild was our first genuine appetizer for a potentially fully voiced future installment (don’t come at me CD-I fans) and even that received lukewarm reception at best from some of the more passionate members of the community.

Typically, when the topic of voice acting is discussed and debated, the overwhelming majority is spent on the following: should Link have a voice? If so, who should voice him? What should he sound like? And while I can sit here and ramble all day about my opinions on that matter, I think there is another character that might inspire a good debate instead.

If ever there were a true enigma in the Zelda series, it would have to be Tingle. The strange man-fairy has confused and delighted fans since his first appearance in Majoras Mask, and since then has only gotten progressively weirder. Everything from his looks to his behavior suggests that nothing about this odd looking man is relatively normal. So as connoisseurs of all things Zelda, it is our responsibility to reflect inward, meditate and ponder the question — who the heck should voice this guy?

Arguments can be thrown around equally for Tingle to have an unsettling, deep and gravely voice, or a moderately high and whiney voice. Both could work, and both would be upsetting. Isnt that what we would want though? Personally I would vote Danny Devito, as he could pull off either of those tones. Look me in the eyes and tell me you dont think he’s perfect for the job!

So, who would you cast to voice act as our strange green friend? Let us know in the comments below!
