After watching the new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, I believe we are getting one of the best, if not the best entry in the series this May. I can’t wait to return to this land of Hyrule that I’ve already come to know and love, complete with characters I’ve grown attached to. However, I can’t wait to see the new characters who will be introduced this time around, and from the look of the trailer, one in particular is making me scratch my head. In the scene where we see Link reaching out to grab a woman’s hand, we see her silhouette and her dress, which looks to be quite ancient, but also similar to the white gown Zelda wears when she is training to access her sealing power.

At first glance, it seems like this woman could be Princess Zelda, but I have seen other speculating that it could be the goddess Hylia herself. However, my first thought was that this could be the Princess Zelda from 10,000 years in the past–the one depicted with the ancient hero in the tapestry in Breath of the Wild. There have many hints in the footage of Tears of the Kingdom that we might be visiting a Hyrule in the past. From Link’s new ancient-looking getup and hairstyle, to the enticing hieroglyphics from a previous trailer, I wouldn’t be surprised if we may be coming face to face with the past incarnation of Link or princess who faced Calamity Ganon in ancient times. However, only time will tell!

What do you think? Do you have any ideas of who this woman could be in the trailer? Let us know in the comments below!
