Summer is here! This means hot weather, time off, and the urge to travel to fun places for a good time. Whether you’re headed to the beach, an amusement park, an island, or another country, summer is the perfect time to go on vacation. There are plenty of locations in Hyrule and other Zelda settings perfect for a relaxing trip or an exciting expedition. Where would you go for summer vacation if you lived in the Zelda universe?

While there are plenty of competing choices, I’ve always thought Lake Hylia from Twilight Princess was a great place to just hang out and relax. The serene shores present a view of gorgeous scenery and bountiful places to soak up the sun. Of course, it tends to get hot in summer, so thankfully there’s a gigantic lake to take a swim in. If you’re looking for some fun, the area boasts a collection of carnival-like games to test your skill at and win fabulous prizes. Just don’t let go of your cucco too soon! If it turns out that area themes are actually diegetic, I’ll happily bask in that wonderous melody throughout my stay.

Sometimes, though, I’m looking for a trip that’s a bit more…out there. When I’m feeling weird I think I’d head over to the Great Bay of Termina. It still has the sand, surf, and sun you’d want from a beach, but also some quirky activities to spend some time engaging with. A stroll over to the Skulltula House will evoke some serious haunted mansion vibes, and bizarre formations like Pinnacle Rock are great for explorers. For those with an educational inclination, head over to the Marine Research Lab to learn about the ecosystem. I’d probably spend my nights at the Zora Hall, seeing the Indigo-Go’s live for some jazzy arrangements. I’ll have to be careful of pirates, though.
